Cool and breezy morning, for SWFL. This roasty oatmeal stout is helping me to shake off the chill, post dog walk. Cheers and have a great day!

Enjoying this most excellent New Glarus Wisconsin Belgian Red purchased last year. Wish they would resume distribution in Illinois. This beer is also in celebration of Founder's upcoming Blushing Monk release next month, one of my all time favorite beers of any style.

Can't wait to enjoy a nice walk on what may possibly be our last day in the 60s F. Hope you all have a great beer day.

A proper morning/coffee stout to wash out my mouth after that last stout which tasted like metal and cooked celery)...something I can always rely on - “Péché Mortel:

Bottled 6-3-17. Coffee nose, coffee taste. Medium plus body and semi smooth feel. Ahhh, all is good again...

We have a roofer this morning looking at our leak...during the heaviest rain during last weak’s hurricane, I collected <10ozs of water; I don’t think this is a big deal...the wife thinks the ceiling will collapse...let’s see what Jay says...

Just finished the afternoon chores, cleaned the floor, emptied the trash and recycled the beer bottles, did laundry and now about to open a well-deserved beer.

    Is that floor dry yet??

Have a good Thursday. I slept well, went to sleep around 1 AM. Woke up at 6AM to my long haired cat throwing up next to my bed. How wonderful. 50 minute skype call with my gf last night as usual. I made a whole 24 ounce pack of bacon in the oven way late in the night, I didn't eat anything all day so it hit the spot. I used chili lime Lawrys seasoning on both sides, and I did 15 minutes at 400F, with a turn after 10 minutes. May never do pan fried bacon again, especially for larger amounts of bacon :sunglasses:. Was crispy yet still chewy. I need to do the dishes now and clean out all that grease.

Found a couple cans left after the move. A bit of a gusher, but still awesome! Bit more dark honey/biscuit malts; hops still juicy and not too dull. :ok_hand:

    Cheers

VOLA released a new single, new album next year. This will definitely be on Inmazes level. I thought Applause of a Distant Crowd was too poppy, but a good album nonetheless.

Floor is dry, I can now enjoy this good bière de garde - “La Goudale” and pairing it with a couple crepes. Just crepes and sugar, no jam or Nutella...

That bacon looks awesome. One of my kid brothers has worked at the same restaurant for 27 years, his primary task is to oven bake approximately 3,000 +/- strips of bacon nightly, 3 sheets at a time, for use the next day...it takes hours to cook that much bacon, but the customers love it. Cheers!

The roofer said our leak was no big deal, a couple of loose shingles and 2 rusty nails found directly above the leak line...an easy (and cheap!) fix - Yippee!

Some days, in for a penny, in for a pound - I thought I might drink this beer on Thanksgiving, but I’m giving thanks that the roof should hold up another 3-5 years before replacing - Cycle’s “Thursday” TBBW (3/2020):

I occasionally grumble about paying $25-35 a bomber from our local first tier Brewers...but deep down I know I’m getting what I like to drink compared to equivalent competitive Brewer’s that make barrel aged stouts so far away that I rarely see...

Poured at 53 degrees; black with dark tan head; minimal cap retention; thin ring; spots of lace; black with thin ruby edges; thin legs at best. Aromas of chocolate fudge brownie and cinnamon assault the nose; vanilla stands its own ground; spicy boozy liqueur (like a cinnamon Red Hot shot) exhale; so fudgey on the nose, yet...Taste follows nose, lots of chocolate fudge, vanilla, and cinnamon but with hot green chilies sauce right behind; some fruity sweetness (apple?) and booze; the finish is layers of chocolate, vanilla, cinnamon and spicy hot peppers. Spicy hot tongue coating - peppers heat tingle; full minus body; velvety feel (but not syrupy or adjuncty); full on face flushing/mouth warmth from 11.5% abv and Ancho and Pasilla peppers. Overall a multi-layered treat, as if Xocoveza were fudgy and aged in Brandy Barrels, and kinda like one of Westbrook’s more complex barrel aged Mexican Stouts...this beer had plenty of fudgey chocolate and vanilla (Mexican and Ecuadorian beans), oak, and a distinct fruity apple/brandy/liqueur vibe, yet spicy hot with peppers and cinnamon; pleased that at 9 months out that the vanilla holds its own nose/taste-wise; so hot, yet so cool!

I tasted this beer during TBBW in March, and it’s only gotten better aged in the bottle...

    Cheers Thursday AM Advocates!
