Hapkin, a Belgian strong pale ale.
Sunny and cold afternoon. I think I’m going for a walk after that one...
Good day BAs! Today's New Breakfast Beer is from Ellicottville Brewing in NY, not that far away.
Beautiful low 60s morning...clear, bright and breezy. The dogs have been walked and fed. Jr. Z is off to work. Coffee time!
Courtesy of @basaywhat Central Waters’ “Cassian Sunset” (2018):
Poured at 57 degrees. Ringing in at 11.7% abv and 27 IBUs. The cinnamon has backed off (which in my book is a positive), and the coffee and vanilla compliment the base and bourbon barrel notes. Perhaps my favorite of the Brewer’s Reserve Series.
Have a fantastic Friday y’all, and Cheers!
Good morning BA
I've been accumulating Belgian style strong beers in the fridge for a while, and today, I'm going to start reviewing them...
First up, Hitachino Nest Beer XH, a Belgian Strong Dark Ale aged in distilled sake barrels. Good, but slightly tart. Not my ideal flavor profile, but the bottle is three years old.
Six twelve hour nightshifts start tonight, so I'll be back with a pre-nap closer. Cheers all!
The Seahawks were just a little better than the Cardinals last night.
The beer was great.
BA breakfast club returns!
These guys brew excellent stuff, but am still frustrated with not dating cans. I know it is fresh but not everyone works part time at a beer store. Cheers all.
Working in the garage today...I’ve got to make room for all the boxes of Halloween Village pieces...starting the afternoon light with a Jai Low:
The day will hit a high of about 77°, so I may as well get cracking while it’s still coolish...cheers!
Have a good Friday. Slept for a good amount last night, woke up at 11AM to my cat Bo throwing up AGAIN(on the carpet this time), and then they were waiting for me to get up and feed them the canned foods. They are righting in the kitchen again. I have to go to the gas station soon, and get the e training done for work and get a password and login made for myself; so I can get on the 40+ hour schedule. Wonder how they are going to deal with the 10 PM curfew in Ohio.
Amazing as always.
Six hours of OT complete, shipped 9 very important circuit cards. Jai Alai as we prep a lamb burger for her and beef for me. Cheers mates!!
Rince cochon and about done drinking for today... cheers!
Marble brews some great beers. This is one of them.
Good to see you back! Cheers!
WW Costal Love....meat on....
Closing this morning out with a Braxton Jubilee Extra IPA and a little Johnnie Walker Red
Enjoying an easy drinker as we grind and mix venison for sausage.
Taking a break from decorating with a 2020 model.......
Finished product with a Two Hearted....
Making progress...I’ve cleared off some shelves for Halloween stuff...a Guayabera to keep me hydrated:
Our lawn man, Mr. Tran has arrived to mow, etc., so I’ve put the dogs inside, and I’ve closed the garage doors...starting to warm up in here, but at least I got some work done. Cheers!
Tree House Nomad Czech Dark Lager
Do any of you ever grab an old classic you haven't had in a while and think "Why the heck do I not drink this more often?" That was my first thought when I started quaffing this Schneider Weisse Aventinus. I'll admit, it was a bit aged when I picked it up this week, but it's still fantastic. The 8.2% abv gives it a nice warmth. G. Schneider & Sohn makes the worlds best wheat beers. I wished more craft beer breweries made these. Cheers folks!
Yes, this is bit hokey, but if you have an appreciation for classic movies, this song from Holiday Inn by Bing Crosby resonates this time of year.
I'm thinking about grabbing some Kolsch beers for Thanksgiving. Haven't decided what the "beer of the day" will be yet. Cheers!
Victory - Merry Monkey.. cheers!
Listening to that inner voice.
The Chief Public Health Officer of Canada presented Covid 19 modelling projections for the end of the year today and shit is not looking particularly rosy. So, I did a big beer run that might be my last trip to a store until things improve dramatically. Got thirty eight different beers in varying quantities and filled a good portion of a RAV4 with the back seats down. F-it, most of this stuff will age well at least in the intermediate term or longer. The stuff that won’t age I’ll drink first. Simple. It will be online delivery ordering for the foreseeable future.
Starting off with a Fuller’s Vintage Ale 2020, which I should and will age, but I can never resist having a couple while relatively fresh. As usual, the beer is 8.5% ABV. It is 40 IBU and is made with Target, Jester and Godiva hops. I’m enjoying it very much now but it will improve. Cheers.
Drinking my last can of Surly Furious IPA. This thing is wafting from the glass right now with huge fresh red grapefruit and citrus notes, a nice resinous pine tree bitterness and wonderful light toasty amber malt backbone. Great beer that I plan on getting again sometime. Cheers all!
Happy Horns Up Friday!
Metallica is probably still my favorite metal band overall, at least from the 80's. I like some of the later stuff too, just not as much
It's Friday. It has been a long week of last minute deadlines and 16 hour workdays. Sigh. Time to break out the big boys and get a well deserved day off started out the right way. Cheers! and Happy Friday Beer Advocate.
Y'all Need Science. Double India Pale Ale from Equilibrium.
Howdy ho, BA. tokk the day off. i'm moreso a fan of the cold weather, but today is shorts weather nd allowed us to go on a nice long walk. some Celebration. cheers!!
This is my favorite beer from one of my favorite Georgia breweries. This is one heck of a drinkable beer. If you every get a chance to try it, I whole heartedly recommend it. It's a little more nutty tasting than a classic Vienna Lager. The Beer Connoisseur rated it a 97. I found it long before BC rated it.
"Nobody loves me, nobody seems to care. No...body...loooooves me, no body seems to care. Speaking of bad luck and trouble, well you know I've had my share..."
With today’s beautiful weather, and a night off, busted out the bicycle and a Fireside Chat. Nice, lazy day by the pond before I hop back on the bike. An @aoampm sighting!
Finishing the bomber!
Having a Jack's Abby Copper Legend fest bier. Cheers everyone!
live instrumentals almost as good as studio versions 30+ years prior
Back from terrorizing the squirrels out in the woods and ready for a nap on the sofa.
I’m changing the song to “Its noon somewhere”, Covid edition.
current batch, tasting amazing.
Nice! I just bought a 6-pack of it. Photo soon.
I got this IPA recipe online for 5-gallons as made by Bell's brewers. It's next in line to brew!
