Starting the long weekend off at Better Luck Tomorrow, which was always one of the best happy hour cocktail spots in Houston to begin with. Now they are transitioned into being more of a "restaurant" cause thats what the law requires now. They have always had the best bar food around anyway so all they did was make sure to social distance, along with a great outdoor area, and be as immaculately clean as ever, oh and LOWER the booze prices ha.

You have touched on my dilemma anymore. While I really love these beers one of those KBS bottles is 340 calories so I had one on one night and another the next so that's close to 700 extra calories within a day. I wouldn't eat four king sized Snickers over two days so... Yeah, you can cut in other areas but when you are already eating healthy and counting calories it's hard to find another 340 somewhere to chop (plus there is the extra carbs hit these beers give).

Just to be clear this is the same can from over an hour ago.

Over an hour later and maybe 10oz of this is gone so far... what? It pretty much never takes me more than 30 minutes to finish any beer and that includes big stouts. If I didn't take a break with this one I would have had to drain pour for sure that that felt unethical and wasteful so I will punish myself for the sake of the BA gods.

I had to go and smoke a joint because this beer is so sweet it leaves a residue going down your throat like some liqueurs where the taste and feel lingers. The weed helped me get rid film/residue the beer left stuck down my throat. Going sour next to get this mess out of my mouth.

So, the Auditor General of Ontario issued a twenty one page report today that was extremely critical of the early pandemic action taken by the Provincial Government. First, the job of the Auditor General is to monitor Government spending and finances, NOT to dispense health related opinions and advice. Second, most feel the report is rife with inaccuracies and seriously undermines the work done and being done by the Provincial health team. Ontario has give or take 3,500 Covid 19 deaths among a population of 14.5 million. I would encourage anyone to compare those rates to any large population area in the Western world. Long story short, the Auditor General of Ontario should be immediately dismissed and replaced.

Second beer of the day is Gouden Carolus Hopsinjoor, an 8% Belgian IPA from Brouwerij Het Anker. This is a real beauty, one of the best in style. Cheers.

 

I'm starting off the weekend with a Freak by Wicked Weed. Love WW IPA's, hate AB InBev but respect their logistics. Conflicted.

 

Next up is a little bit of indulgence.... some sugar and fruit; sweet but not cloying. Not anything like the maple in that last can.
