    Good Morning Beer Advocates!

Been really looking forward to opening this after picking up a four pack at the brewery last Friday. Wednesday morning it is. I love just about every Deep Woods release, but this one ranks as my favorite release, partially due to the fact you don't find many BA Rye Ales out there, and this is best in class. This may be their best version yet, going to pick up more for certain.

Added Chicago White Sox organist, HOFer Nancy Faust to the mix after @RaulMondesi 's great Vin Scully insertion yesterday.

Nancy and Harry kick off the festivities, followed by two songs from the overnight set. Have a great beer and music day, one and all!

Good day BAs! Off to a chilly start today - snow is supposed to start around noon although the area south of us is supposed to get the heaviest hit. Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Good morning, friends! Knocking off another beer I've wanted to try for years. Although I'm sure since it's getting distribution it's no longer good, naturally. /s

So technically from last night but wanted to share because it was a fun one, great cookies stout with a rich boozy backing. A nice dessert

Now for something a little different...

I really keep overlooking Belgian ales and I want to make them a part of my regular rotation of beers. Having nothing but IPA's and Stouts gets old after a while.

A kind friend brought a couple of these over while we shoot the shit. For some reason he insists on drinking out of the bottle. Still hoping to find some more or this local... It is going to be a long day but it is what?

Cool (low 60s) with a misty breeze, rain storms on today’s horizon. Morning chores done ... coffee time - Mikkeller Brewing, San Diego, CA, “Beer Geek Peanut Butter Shake”, an Imperial Stout with coffee, cocoa nibs, peanut butter, and “natural flavors” added...for me, Mikkeller can be hit or miss, so let’s go:

Canned 10/12/20. Poured at 53 degrees. Black with ruby edges; tight, dark tan micro bubbles head; ok cap retention; solid plus ring; bands of soapy lacing; medium legs. Nose is toasted peanuts and star anise; roast coffee beans as beer warms. Burnt toast, char, very bitter roast coffee, bittersweet dark chocolate, peanut butter, black licorice; a little more cacao comes out on back end. Cocoa powder dryness; very little warmth from 11.8% abv; medium minus body; moderate minus carbonation. Overall, this is one of those beers that after a couple of drinks I’m wondering what I have available to wash this taste out of my mouth; off-putting bitter aftertaste that tastes anything but “natural”; bitter coffee overwhelms small amount of peanut butter/chocolate; one and done.

Bottled 11/5/20. Poured at 55 degrees. Bitter (in a good tasty way) roast coffee, and dark chocolate. It’s fun to try new beers, but there’s something reassuring about a chiller full of beers I know I like...I’m going to try to finish getting my Christmas cards out today...have a wonderful Wednesday y’all, and Cheers!

Bryan/College Station Zoigl Belgian Wit. The brewery has been closed since Fall 2019 ( a sad event for me!) but had this bottle way back in the beer fridge. Still very tasty! Brought back very pleasant memories! Needed as we close out 2020!

Lunch beer - Equilibrium’s “Fractal Vic Secret” IPA:

I drank a can of this beer 3 weeks ago, and I liked the taste, but not the onion nose or hop burn. Three weeks later I still like the taste, lite bitter grapefruit pineapple and mango, and the onion has backed off in the nose, and there is less hop burn on the tip of my tongue...still not for me, but I’m willing to buy more from this brewery as I’ve always been impressed with its quality brews. Cheers bar mates!

It was -21 Celsius when I started my walk this morning. Luckily I have a down filled coat that’s rated for about -40. By far the best money I’ve ever spent on an article of clothing.

Cleaning up the last of the true summer beers by having a Whitewater Brewing Co. Farmer’s Daughter Blonde. It’s a really nice beer.

Stars are an indie band from Montreal. A couple of the members are also in Toronto based Broken Social Scene, which will get on here soon enough. Ageless Beauty is from a really strong album called Set Yourself On Fire. Cheers.

Had a bit of an adventurous over the past couple of days. Drove up to Tree House Brewing yesterday (two hour drive, 90 minutes on a 150 car line, and two hours back NY metro).

Then today, took the train into Midtown Manhattan and looked at the store displays, and, of course the Rockefeller Center Tree.

Now, spent after all that travels, I am sitting by the fire enjoying a Super Treat from Tree House Brewing Company. Delicious: one Lollipop I am unprepared to share.
