What beer are you drinking now? #2995

I am going to spend the day watching Cobra Kai, season 3. When the series was released on Netflix, I planned on watching one episode, just to see what they were doing with the Karate Kid characters. However, I was immediately hooked. I quickly watched the two seasons that were available. The show is very well written. Season 3 apparently brings back characters from Karate Kid 2. It should be an entertaining and relaxing day for me.

 

For the price this is a solid beer, but I won’t purchase another 6 pack. The hop bill was so promising and a little lactose was welcomed but at the end of the day not even a 4 for me.

Milk Stout. 5.9% ABV. 30 IBU
With cocoa nibs, coffee and organic oats

Opaque black with khaki head which leaves half finger throughout. Smells of brown sugar, heavy cream, whipped cream, fresh coffee is minimal. Toasty malts. Chestnut, brown bread. Taste is like a black Kona coffee with a spoon of sugar and dark chocolate. Not a bad thing at all. Perfect balance between sweet, roast, and char. Lactose is not heavy. This is the texture of lightly fizzy carbonated half and half milk creamer and is in no way sticky. I enjoy stouts on the thin side. Thin but remains full. Smell me?? Anything that cloys is broken apart by the acidity of the black malts and coffee. It stays light so you can session. Then you pick up nuance like blueberry and saltiness from a good session back to back with these beers.

I’m lactose intolerant. Severely. If I drink whole milk I can count to 10 before I get sick. I will vomit at the smell of cows milk. Truly. Sour and funky and foul that wretched shit. I LOATHE milk. And lactose makes me ill. So coming from me. This is a big deal. Milk Stout is my favorite beer style for beers like this and I’m willing to deal with the nausea and stomach ache gladly. It simply works for me in beer.

Funny enough about the sickening qualities of milk.....I’m making dulce de leche for this tres leches cake I’m working on. Everyone deserves their favorite cake for their birthday. I drank a “morir soñando” which is one part condensed milk, 4 parts OJ with a splash of vanilla extract and ten minutes later a grenade went off in my stomach. I write this on the toilet my friends. But I’m Cruising.

Dovetail Helles Lager



Long story short, nice Helles Lager, full aroma and taste, very pleasurable, nice and easy.

Hope your day and upcoming year is also nice and easy.

 

Little 3 mile run and another load of laundry complete. It was his and hers bloody Marys but she couldn't wait to get out into the 80 degrees sun. The last of the Hunaphu from this bottle, only 2 left but March is just around the corner when we restock. Cheers mate!

Moving right along, Now finishing off last night’s closer - Revolution’s “Deth’s Tar” (2020):



Canned 10/07/20. Poured at 57°. Somewhat flat from sitting overnight in the fridge; otherwise, delicious! Bourbon, chocolate fudge, oak/vanilla notes. Plenty of warmth from 14.8%. Thanks to @Number1Framer for this delicious high octane beauty.
