Greenpoint dystopian present - very happy to see these folks back in stores again. This is a nice straightforward imperial stout with cold brew coffee. In the old school mold, very hoppy strong and bitter. Mostly dry with coffee as a bit player.

Sipping on Anabasis b4. Wonderful flavor but a bit low on carbonation.

Billy Ray Citrus, from Eagle Park. A hazy IPA with grapefruit, tangerine, and bunch of hops.

[IMG] Tonight's Beer Tasting Lineup is Battle Beer!

    1) New Glarus Spotted Cow (4.8%): My first time drinking the gold-standard of cream ales. This beer exclusive to Wisconsin drinks incredibly pale and smooth, like cream.
    versus
    2) Castle Danger's Cream Ale (5.3%): Another midwest cream ale from Minnesota with slightly darker malt flavors and drinks slightly more rich.

    3) Breckenridge Hop Peak IPA (6.4%): A Rocky Mountain IPA from Colorado with orange citrus, green apple & tropical flavors with a pine and tea spice bitterness on the end.
    versus
    4) New Belgium's Captain Dynamite IPA (7.7%): A new release from New Belgium with juicy flavors of citrus and pineapple. No bitterness. Drinks smooth and juicy.

    5) Elysian BiFrost Winter Ale (8.3%): A winter-warmer style from Washington with strong and malty flavors of caramel, toffee, and maple syrup with hints of citrus.
    versus
    6) Sierra Nevada's Bigfoot (9.6%): A standard American Barleywine from Sierra Nevada that has intense flavors of dark fruit, licorice, treacle with traces of the resinous orange and pine soap that is characteristic for Sierra Nevada.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Winners:

    1) New Glarus Spotted Cow: Finally ventured to Wisconsin to pick this one up and was definitely worth it. A fantastic and smooth drinking cream ale and is perfectly soft on the palate

    3) Breckenridge Hop Peak IPA: One of my favorite IPAs. This Colorado IPA tastes like the Rockies with enough airy bitterness and tea spice.

    6) Sierra Nevada's Bigfoot: Neither of the beers were my favorite due to the high alcohol content, but this one has strong dark fruit, treacle, syrup flavors with an underlying Sierra Nevada orange and pine soap sweetness. Too intense and sweet for my beer-style, but I can appreciate credit where it's due, and this is a quality beer.
For the record, I really dislike barleywines and find them far too strong, like an IPA with too much alcohol and malt.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Have you tried Spotted Cow and did it live up to the reputation of New Glarus?
Have you tried Captain Dynamite IPA and what did you think?
Are you a fan of American Barleywines? Is 2021 Bigfoot a good example of the style?

Brothership Orbit: One TIPA (Citra/Citra cryo). Tangerine and lemon sorbet, OJ w/ pulp, tangelo, orange pith, ripe papaya, ripe pineapple, slight key lime, lychee, floral, pink grapefruit, scallion, pine sap. Vanilla wafer and dough to balance. Juicy, but has a nice dryness and bitterness on the finish. Not overly sweet at all, they even advertise “lactose-free” on the label. Saturated Citra liquid goodness.

Hey @scream . You know where I am now. Working on number 3 of something other than beer. Had a couple of my favorite IPAs from Triple Crossing. Hell, even had a Bud Light.

    Stay cool my friend.
