A really nice local brew, I haven't given it a taste in awhile. Still good!

After a year of inactivity, we once more have a keg of Summit E.P.A. in the shop.

Threatening skies and flash floods be-damned, it’s time to get this rock and roll record shop back to normal. Which means live bands on Record Store Day next month… Cheers!

Happy Birthday! Cheers! Was drinking this Bohemia Pilsner after a shit day of work, but drinking it to someone's bday seems better. Cheers!

[IMG] Tonight's Blind Battle Beer Tasting Lineup: (All 3 pairs correctly matched in the blind taste test)

    1) Warsteiner Pilsner (4.8%): This German pilsner has flavors of toasty German cracker, wheat, and yeast. Faint lemon flavors. Lots of yeast, toasty, but mild on the flavor.
    versus
    2) Summit Dakota Soul (4.8%): This Czech-style Pilsner from Minnesota is brewed with North Dakota barley and has flavors of bitter flower, bread spice, and yeast.

    3) Goose Island's Sophie (6.5%): This saison from Chicago has fruity and floral flavors of juicyfruit, bubblegum, Belgian spices, grape, pear, and yeast. Not unlike a dry Sauvignon Blanc or champagne.
    versus
    4) Surly's Get Loud (7.5%): This beer from Minnesota is a blend of a Belgian wheat ale and a NEIPA. It has a nice balance of American citrus wheat and Belgian spices. The Belgian wheat spice and orange citrus dance well together. If Blue Moon made a hazy version, this might be it.

    5) Odell's Solarized IPA (8.2%): This double IPA has Yuzu hops with flavors of lemon citrus, mandarin orange, grapefruit and lemon zest. Finishes faintly zesty, but sweet.
    versus
    6) Lagunitas Super Cluster IPA (8.0%): A strong and juicy IPA from Lagunitas brewed with Citra that has deep and resinous orange, tangerine, and citrus flavors. Some bitterness on the end.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Winners:

    2) Summit Dakota Soul:
This is a fantastic Czech-style pilsner that balances the flowery hops with some buttery bread and yeast. All for a slightly bitter finish.

    3) Goose Island Sophie: This is a phenomenal Saison that really stands the test of time. Drinking this two years old, but maintains the juicyfruit and bubblegum flavor profile and still drinks nice and dry. Get Loud is unique and a great beer too, but the flavor and hops falls off quickly so must be tried fresh.

    5) Odell Solarized: My first time with Yuzu hops, but really appreciated the lemon citrus and zest flavor here. It kept the beer off the floor with the heavy alcohol weighing it down. I usually prefer Super Cluster, but I think the Super Cluster might have been a bit old.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you prefer a German Pilsner or a Czech Pilsner?
Have you tried Goose Island Sophie, and how did it age?
Have you tried Odell's Solarized IPA?

Happy birthday, James. Glad you enjoyed that beer. Fremont's barrel program is one I'd put up against ones a lot more well known

Summer Break as I decompress. Just got out of a 9 hour production readiness meeting with the Army customer. I've never been on trial or in a trial but it has to feel very similar to what today did. Taco Tuesday tequila shot is chilling.....

That's a fancy torque wrench you got there Mister. Does it do inch-pounds too? Is it quarter, three-eighths or half inch drive?

    I'll play.
I'm of German descent, so I'll go with the homer, German Pilsener.
Not a huge Saison fan, but Sophie is one I do like. Never aged though. I enjoy it so much fresh that I've never aged one.
    Haven't tried Solarized.

LONG workday, hot as hell outside, and I want a refreshing beer with the tacos I am making, preferably something with lime or that I can add lime to. In my fridge I have a single of a new to me beer and this will most certainly do! Two Roads Persian Lime Gose. Pours a light yellow with a generous head and very well carbonated. Smell is typical Gose and very inviting. Taste is fantastic, hits every note and is well balanced and not too far in either direction...I could drink a few of these.

    16 oz can, 4.5% ABV, BB 04/23/22.
