I was going to go hang out in my courtyard with my pup, as its been a nice day. Can't believe the temps in July, in a good way. June was so damn hot I was dreading the rest of the summer. Anyway, till the storm blows over, back inside.

With Peeper from Maine Beer Company. Excellent as always.

Spinning the masterpiece Shawn-Neeq by great guitarist Calvin Keys.

Sip of Sunshine, canned 6/18/21. Sometimes when I drink this beer I wonder why I even bother with most others. I'd be more than fine to drink only this and Pliny the rest of my days.

Bud Ice to round out a jumbled day, Minor warranty issue with my house. Spoke to four different lawyers without reaching a clear conclusion.

Reminds me of a comment my old boss made 50 years ago, "If you need 12 legal opinions all you need is 10 lawyers in a conference room. They will all have a different opinion and by the end of the discussion at least two will have changed their minds."

I took my time, but I’m all set up for the night…I even managed to scrounge some kindling from my camp site…relaxing and drinking a Stone’s “Fear. Movie. Lions” DIPA:

Canned 5/27/21. Poured at 60°. It’s a pleasant 77° outside in the shade with an occasional cooling breeze…I may drink a couple of beers before I hit the “hard stuff” (aka Aleve). I’ll wait awhile before I start my fire…Cheers from Mackinaw City, MI!

So time for a thirst quenching victory lap from Free Will.

And it's hitting the spot perfectly on this hot and humid Eastern PA evening.

An excellent offering from Blacklist. Duluth, MN. Chipper Juicy IPA. Pine, ripe fruits, not tropical actually. At the brewery I asked the server what the hops were: El Dorado, Citra, Mosaic. Has a really nice soft, elegant feel that is indeed juicy and a bitter finish that remains friendly for a long time. I recommend it my friends.
Blacklist are moving a few buildings to the North, same street, to a 4000sq ft space vs the 1800 they currently have. Great beers.
    SKOL!!

Goat Patch Brewing Co. -- Pappy Legba - Rye Whiskey Barrel Aged (imperial saison)

    look: 3.75 | smell: 4.5 | taste: 4 | feel: 3.5 | overall: 3.75

Clear, dark amber body; thin, patchy head. An incredible smell; floral and berry-like with a bold fresh cucumber note. Sweet, fruity taste; blueberry and cucumber; a mild spiciness; a tad boozy. Heavy body but without much texture; flat.

Now this is one of the more unique beers I've encountered in a while, especially for a saison. As an imperial version of the style, it actually does mitigates its ABV quite well. It is noticeable but doesn't dominate the picture. The fresh cut cucumber I find especially noteworthy while I attribute the bit of spiciness I taste to the rye barrel aging. Yes, it mildly misses being exceptional in a few categories (e.g., mouthfeel), but overall, this is a beauty.

Poured at 60 F; no bottling information noted on the bottle.

...this afternoon, I've been catching up on some much neglected reading, specifically, "Command Missions' by Lt. General L. K. Truscott, Jr....I've just finished his account of the 3rd Infantry Division's exploits at Anzio (WWII) and now diving into his account of the invasion of southern France. As a former senior non-commissioned officer, and having some dealings with higher headquarter dealings with front line operations, I certainly appreciate what people in his position have (had) to go through....
