Bottled 6/8/21. Poured at 54°. I’ll head over to Tampa later for a weekend of beer buying/drinking fun as there will be a couple of brewery on site releases I want to attend. Cheers and have a fantastic Friday y’all!

Spaten Oktoberfest



Remains one of my favorite among the Marzen style.

Had to wear pants for the first time since May (long pants that is) Wednesday. Sun needs to stay North, the bloody bastard.

And Then The Rain Came. Refreshing IPA from Alefarm (Denmark).

Just the one today, so why not a good one. Singlecut 18 Watt IPA, a session IPA at 5%. It's brightly hoppy with notes of grapefruit, orange and pineapple. They get a lot of mileage out of that 5%, this is a really good beer.

 

Now I am drinking a Festbier from Columbus Brewing Company. 5.3% lager made in the “Oktoberfest style.” Crisp and refreshing, a good choice for an Oktoberfest beverage. Prost!

 

At Hidden Springs Ale Works drinking “Chocolate Attack” imperial stout aged in McKenna Bourbon Barrels with Chocolate:

Moving on…2021 Black Aggie Fluffernutter, double barrel aged in Willet Bourbon & Cruzan Rum Barrels, with Peanut Butter and Marshmallows added:




Boozy rum, but the peanut butter is strong in the nose and on the finish…I liked prior versions without the rum better…will still score above 4.25 here. Cheers!

 

Firestone Walker Double Barrel Ale 5%. Glad it doesn't taste like bourbon but I wish it had some Oak barrel flavor. I don't taste much barrel. I really like the carbonation and feel. It starts a little crisp but ends with some creaminess. Not too familiar with the English Pale Ale style. I like this recipe for some reason.

And one for the road…BA Black Aggie Mexican Cake (2019) with chocolate, cinnamon, Ancho Chiles and vanilla;



Chocolate, minimal cinnamon (yea!) but light spicy peppers; some vanilla on the backend. Very good, but no Westbrook Cake. Cheers y’all!
