    Good day advocates!

I went to the beer store this morning and the owner had this magnificent Marzen, as far as such Rauchbier go, one of the best there is.

Also, she gave me a couple of hops to make a decent picture…

    Prost!

Good Day BAs and Good afternoon @Shanex! Thanks for starting today's thread. Summer's definitely over in my neck of the woods. Leaves are falling from my sycamore and the lower limbs of my apple trees are bare. We lack the micro climate of a concrete and stone urban center. But sometimes we find a good beer! Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Toppling Goliath is one of my favorite breweries for IPAs, just like Schlenkerla is my favorite all-around brewery in Germany - I've probably consumed more Schlenkerla Marzen than any other brew ever, except for Iron City back in my college drinking days.

Good Morning BA's. I don't usually start this early, but todays an exception. 50 years ago today my Dad called me at work and invited me out for a beer after work. We met at a place called the Thirsty Whale in River Grove, Illinois for my first coming of age beer. I distinctly recalled it being a Strohs, fire brewed if I recall. I looked for it locally the last few days, but alas, I couldnt find it. As they say, poop happens! For starters, a Great Divide Yeti and a Boston Butt for dinner! Enjoy what's in yer glass!

Pale Ale from Diamond Bear Brewing

Dark amber color with small tan cap that quickly settles into a film but does leave lacing for a considerable distance down the glass.

Deep aroma of sweet caramel malt and just a touch of spicy hops. Hops are present but sweet malt is the show here like a baritone solo. Loud and clear.

Taste is malt, malt, and more malt. It's a good malt flavor, deep and rich, bordering on heavy without traipsing off into sweet land. In fact I thing the beer would've been better balanced if the malt flavor had been reduced by about 30%. Finish is clean and I find just a fleeting bit of roast malt bitterness in the aftertaste.

Texture is full and mouth filling creamy with balancing carbonation.

This is a full flavor beer which, while not overly sweet, like a very rich slice of cake one slice is enough.

That beer is an absolute standard. I have a long line of relatives from Bamberg and thereabouts. This beer tasted very familiar the first time I tried it .Very satisfying. I love that tune. It came out when I was 15 and only dreaming of driving. It is amongst my all time favorites. Tons of memories and thanks for the choice!

    My pleasure!

As for Lovin’ Spoonful and at the risk or being callous, I first heard of it in Die Hard 3 back in the mid-1990s, when Bruce Willis (almost) single-handedly defeat a whole Eastern-European army in NY which means I’m probably a bit younger than you. :stuck_out_tongue:

Bruce Willis infects lots of us with unforgettable moments. That he is under-rated is an under statement. Cheers!

Plenty of his movies and quotes are memorable, 12 monkeys which I talked about back in the day here too. Not a movie for everyone curiously as a few didn’t like it.

Outer Range Brewing Co. -- Tunnels (American stout)

    3.95/5 rDev -0.8%
    look: 3.75 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Excellent dark and opaque body; very thick, sudsy and soapy light khaki head. Very satisfying aroma of dark roasted grains with a brief suggestion of cherries; a touch of chocolate. Fine roasted grain taste and a touch of char; moderate hop bitterness; mild acridness. Medium body; fairly smooth mouthfeel; mild residual sugars; semi-sweet throughout with a light dryness.

This is a pretty straightforward stout. There are no apparent additives, adjuncts, or barrel aging going on here.

Poured at 59 °F; no canning data seen on the can.
