Howdy advocates, currently drinking one of these Brooklyn IPA treat. I’ve never been disappointed with them, but sadly can’t find their iconic Black Chocolate Stout so easily. Nice consolation either way…

    Almost heaven, West Virginia?

Hidden gem from a local spot. Stock Ale conditioned on Laphroaig Casks.

Good morning BAs! Thank you @Shanex for kicking us off this chilly RVA Monday morning. I typically don’t comment on my brethren’s music posts, but I’ll holler “hootie hoo” for P’s post. I was born and grew up in WV and I obtained my first degree from WVU…I’m on my way home where 3 of my younger siblings reside, and I should arrive this coming weekend…enough of that…drinking BCBS (2019) this fine morning:

Bottled 12 August 19. Poured at 53°. Held up well for hiding in some warehouse these past two years. Boozy bourbon notes and taste. A blend of Heaven Hill, Buffalo Trace & Wild Turkey barrels. Delicious…however, I feel like I’m drinking a bourbon and sweet coke, with the trailing flavors including chocolate, oak, vanilla, leather and tobacco. The 14.7% abv is face flushing warming…and a warning - not a breakfast beer to take lightly if you have sh!t to do

Cheers y’all, and have a magnificent Monday!

The usual morning N/A tutti fruitti "beer" while I gather what's left of my wits for a long Monday at work. With luck, I may join later. Without it... purgatory.
    Cheers!

You’re welcome @DoctorZombies. I can’t remember where and how I heard of John Denver the first time, but always liked him.
On your way up to WV for the holidays season I assume? Cheers to that. It’s super chilly and wet here too, have a feeling we’ll have a “normal” winter for a change.

Yep. I’m on my way for a visit home. Mrs. Z and I are doing a month long house/cat sit in Richmond through Christmas. I’ll be driving back and forth over the mountains/I-64 to visit my kin in between…Cheers buddy!

Drinking Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. I've missed this top notch stout for the last
few years. I keep meaning to ask @Shanex if there is any indication of where the European bottles of Brooklyn he buys are brewed. This stout is brewed by F.X. Matt/Saranac in Utica, NY about 90 miles from my house. Thought I saw something about Brooklyn being brewed in Europe by Carlsberg.

It’s imported and distributed by Carlsberg all over Europe by the look of things and the label.

You made me go out of my way to go pick it up in the glass recycling bin but there goes your response. I wish I could find BBCS here. I don’t order beer online anymore both for my budget, also because it’s pretty much redundant and very few new beers or overpriced anyway.

I hear you, at a certain point you have to be happy with what you've got. Thanks for checking out the bottle. I checked Brooklyn's website and they say they brew in Sweden, but I don't know which brews or who is doing the brewing. Btw, your brew commemorates the 1969 Stone Wall Riots in New York City.

Ah, thanks for letting me know about those incidents.

Going to be cheeky here, but if some French brewery had to commemorate every riots in France since the taking of the Bastille in 1789, they would have quite a large and interesting lineup. :grinning:

That’s probably true. But, there’s a great marketing opportunity! (That’s what the United States does well!) Get on it!

@Shanex My last three beers perfectly illustrate my point. Trappist ales in US (albeit I had to go through American Samoa and Kiribati to get there!), well there you go. While they are not as complex and refined as the Belgian Trappist beers, they are not bad, and probably tap a market that cannot afford and have not tried the Belgians. Who knows years from now they will claim that they are better than the Belgian beers!
