After a nice hike I'm pretty thirsty!





Warm (almost 20 degrees!), light winds, and hardpack made for a quick hike today, I'm now about halfway through the winter-only 48 NH 4,000 footers list. Yeah, yeah nothing like some of the hills out west, but still always beautiful in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, my backyard!

 

For the first time in a while I traversed the beer store aisles and nothing jumped into my cart. Of course, I still bought some things, but it was almost begrudgingly. These two things I already had…


And it’s warm enough, relatively, to enjoy them outside. This weekend looks less pleasant. Cheers!

Checking out a new local brewery. Actually a West Coast brewery that has just opened a satellite operation here. Drinking "This Ain't Your Grandma's Oatmeal Stout" pretty good.

 

Well, I'm not working (on vacation) and no dry Januarys for me as long as there are 12 Days of Christmas. After a day of driving, I'm decompressing with another from my Great Lakes variety pack: Dortmunder Gold. Out of necessity, I paired this with a Subway Baja Steak & Jack sub with chipotle sauce and a bunch of jalapeños. The sandwich was a little too overpowering for this beer. Nevertheless, it'll do. Cheers!

 

We’re probably going to have two of these beers tonight. Tasty! Cheers!

MO. A pale ale brewed by Maine Beer Company.

 

Upland Dragonfly IPA c/o Torch Bistro in Norfolk

 

Funky Butt is what they shoulda named this. It smelled like a beer fart and tastes funky from the stone fruit. It’s coming in below 90 but it’s yummy going down. It’s better than when I first tasted it and that’s not usual for an IPA. It’s growing on me.
