    Happy Sunday all. Nearly Monday here, so time to start Sunday's thread!

    This evening's offering is an Achel 8° Blonde by Brouwerij der Sint-Bendictusabdij De Achelse Kluis from Belgium.

    A beer with a name like that deserves contemplation. At the end of the day, however, it's a no-nonsense tripelish beer that conforms to all correct and beloved Belgian stereotypes. There's the Belgian yeast profile with a lemony body, bright carbonation and assertive dryness. It's a beer that could be drunk by the handful if the alcohol was hidden just a little more. Thankfully it's not, and temperance of a sort can win out over base consumption.

    With a nod to the appropriate glassware thread, I present the beer in a large tulip that screams my beer knowledge, worldliness and style. :smirk:

    Good evening @AzfromOz, we’ve got a quite wordy Aussie mate now in this thread, this can only be an asset.

    Achel, regardless of its iterations have always pleased me. Like really. Maybe not as much as Ms Shanex but still please me.

    Now it’s time for this dummy frenchie to shut his mouth and enjoy a very much great NEIPA from France. It’s made of Citra, Simcoe, Soraci Ace & Amarillo hops.

    If I’m genuinely being gregarious it’s probably because this beer is really putting me in this nice mood.

    Aussies are always an asset! At the very least we can point out what is, and isn't, a knife.

    Also, I agree with your and Ms. Shanex's opinion of Achel. Very nice beers.

    Quite a number of French breweries have taken on the NEIPA style and start to really nail it.

    I’ve yet to have a very good French stout though, or just haven’t been seeking them out enough. Too thin body wise and lacking some flavors.

    Good morning BAs! An overcast and nippy 46° short jaunt around the block with the dogs complete, as is feeding and kitchen cleaning…coffee time - Funky Buddha’s “Void Shaker”, a BBA RIS:

    Bottled in March 2021. Poured at 54°. Aged in High West barrels. Still too oaky for me. Some bourbon, sweet caramel malt, and a little bitter roast. Finish and linger is popsicle stick wooden dryness. Not much difference from my last bottle in August.

    The day should brighten, and the temperature rise to mid 50°s. I think we’re making pumpkin scones with Jr. Z later, and perhaps tackling a new puzzle. Fun indoors stuff. Cheers y’all and have a superb Sunday!

    Happy Sunday BA's! Three hours of overtime complete and laundry going. I did a 10 mile road ride in the 40 degree weather. I was dressed well with arm and leg warmers but am still trying to get my feet warm. This cherry wood stout is certainly helping!
