    Alaskan Midnight Haze IPA (6.0%):

Appearance: Pours a dark, nearly black color but with some brown hues. A strong tan head. SRM of 21.
Aroma: Mild aromas of tangerine, melon with some roasted malt underneath.
Flavor: Mild flavors upfront of tropical fruit, orange, and melon before a stronger coffee roast and moderately bitter finish.
Feel: Medium to light bodied. Soft mouthfeel and moderate carbonation.
Overall: A nice version of the Black IPA style. As other have mentioned, the hops are milder and so is the body. Showcases the coffee roast and bitterness more than the hops. The body is mild, but makes it drinkable. Enjoyable, and I'd like to see more of the style. Blends an IPA with a stout. I think this style could emerge for a hoppy, early spring ale, blending winter and spring....for when the snow is melting, but the sun is shining, just like today. (Final Rating: 3.73)

    Slainte!

Thanks to @mickyge, I spent hours watching youtube vids on what works and does not when it comes to birdfeeder placement and squirrel proofing. I plan to use all recycled or repurposed stuff and have a sort of plan. I have ideas at least for the post and lower squirrel baffle.

The new beer I had yesterday was so good I am starting the night with it. A nice 51 degree Melvin-IPA.

She still won't drink more than a tiny sip without making a face, though.

I just played it. For whatever reason, I have played it about a half dozen times in the last week or so after not hearing it for two decades.

Great topic. These are two great songs and a great spot to build on. The BA's can assemble a four record set of the best Rock and Roll songs of the 1970's.

Here are a few songs that you could play at 11 at home or in the car.

Bob Dylan-- Knockin on Heaven's Door
    Allman Bros -- Ramblin Man
Grand Funk-- We're an American Band
Jim Croce-- Bad, Bad Leroy Brown, Time in a Bottle, I Got a Name. Age
BTO -- Takin Care of Business
Joe Walsh -- Rocky Mountain Way
    Mississippi Queen-- Mountain
Rolling Stones-- Gimme Shelter, Tumbling Dice
Deep Purple -- Smoke on the Water
Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band-- Hollywood Nights
    Bruce Springsteen-- Born to Run
Grand Funk-- We're an American Band

Definitely not my favorite beer but when you get a 12 pack for free you do what you have to do.

Next up is another new one for me. I am always VERY excited to try a new barleywine, and I am extremely lucky to try this one from BKS. @Harrison8 kindly sent this in a recent barleywine swap. This is a big 14% barleywine conditioned on Madagascar and Ugandan vanilla beans. Amazing beer! Cheers!

    Schilling Augustin

    Pint can marked 123021 00902 1522

Pours into my shaker pint glass a crystal clear caramel amber shade with a bubbly tan head. Head drops to a skim quickly but leaves soapy lace on the glass.

Scent is caramel, bread crusts and floral hops.

Taste is caramel and bread crust with a spicy hop note and a nice moderate clean bitterness. Some raisins and dark fruit (figs.) Caramel is the primary note and although there is some sweetness the bittering hops and spicy hop note provide a balance and the beer has an overall clean finish.

Mouth is creamy with a fine moderate carbonation.

Lighter and sweeter than the dark Czech lagers I've been reviewing and reminds me somewhat of a Vienna style lager although no roasted qualities are present and the caramel notes are not indicated for a Vienna. Another great Schilling lager.
