This sums up my feelings about both beers. Far too many times I've bought a 4-pack of SoS in the afternoon and it's completely gone by bedtime. It really is the perfect go-with-anything beer. Whereas Heady is perfect for sitting down and doing absolutely nothing else but drinking Heady. I'M READY FOR A HEADY!

Interesting. I quite like the regular 4 Giants, will have to track this down.

It's simply not the industry model as we recognize it now. I agree that it was a precursor, no doubt. Cheers.

There's just nothing like it. All this chatter means I need a re-up. When Heady is in the fridge, everything else gets ignored. I don't care what hype beer it is -- it can wait. Cheers.

This is one of several different beers hanging around in the bowels of my fridge that I need to get rid of over the next couple of weeks. They're mostly beers I didn't care for all that much like Dream Weaver, i know there's a few of those. This one is actually tasting pretty good - date on it is 9/9/21.

Tidal, a WCIPA from German brewery FrauGruber (8.6%).

Overall, this makes for an enjoyable, modern WCIPA with a good balance of fruity, floral and earthy, spicy notes, finishing with a great, resinous bitterness.

It pisses me off that they won't distribute to Central MA, I've asked a few places if they could get it and the answer is the same - they don't distribute here. They must have a bug up their ass for some reason.

The primary characteristics that define a NEIPA are:

Hazy Appearance: Heady is mostly transparent with just a moderate haze, no more than that of a Kellerbier, or the chill haze you see in other styles. NEIPAs of today are completely opaque.

Fruity/Juicy aroma: Heady is mostly dank, catty, and citrusy, with a hint of fruit but by no means does it display the OJ or tropical juice profile of NEIPAs.

Taste: NEIPAs are characterized by their profound lack of bitterness. The gazzilion pounds of hops that are used for these beers are aromatic varieties. Heady has a distinct and prolonged bitterness than no NEIPA even comes close to (by design).

Of course all beer styles have some degree of overlap but the strongest connections that Heady has to NEIPAs are primarily historical (like some have mentioned above - mostly in the sense that Heady helped the launch of NEIPAs) and obviously the location of where it is made (New England).
