At Market 32 (Price Chopper) in Sutton - new prices as of this week apparently. I haven't looked elsewhere to see if it's spreading.

New Oberpfaltz Helles Lager. Decided to put the Seedz version up against this one and this is clearly superior. New Oberpfaltz doesn't get the love it should for their lagers. Bright, clean, and refreshing.

The last one was outstanding, Cloudwater territory almost. So more Swedish stuff! This is Still On Mars, a fruited sour with raspberries, blackberries, passionfruit and vanilla, by local brewery Elmeleven. I’ve gotten quite bored of fruited sours, but Elmeleven do them very well.

    Love me some Brandi.

Knocked out some yard work, and relaxing with something bright and hoppy.

Brauerei Schloss Eggenberg -- Urbock 23°
    Pale double bock
    ABV: 10.5%; pouring temperature: 46.6 ℉; canning info: 04. 2023

    3.89/5 rDev +8.1%
    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Clear, golden toned body; beautiful carbonation; thick, frothy head. Vibrant aroma; spicy hop notes and terse caramel presence; cloves; very faint floral suggestions. The taste follows closely along the lines of the smell; sweet malt; spicy hop flavors; cloves and cardamon; light alcohol presence in the background; diacetyl note. Heavy body; sticky sweetness.

An interesting and flavorful pale double bock from Austria. The ABV on the can was listed as 10.5% vice the brewery's web site which lists it at 9.6%. It may be a bit too sweet overall yet still has an interesting sensory presence.

...for some reason, I've been on a Dixie Dregs / Dregs kick while working in the 'Fortress of Solitude' this late morning and early afternoon...gone through about seven CDs of theirs today...

Just had this conversation with my wife. A hair product she uses went up 8 bucks since last month, double the price. I told her if say Sip went up 8 bucks a four pack I wouldn’t buy it.
I’m driving less and watching my prices, F inflation, recession or the war, what ever the excuse is. Maybe they, whoever they are, should have thought twice about paying people insane wages.
I’m all for the working man but when some kid bagging groceries makes more the a teacher or care giver something is wrong.
Rant over, thanks for listening. Let’s drink beer!

    Hello Advocates!

Been a while since I took a seat at the VB, as I've been scrambling to assemble some semblance of fitness before the Mount Washington Auto Road Race this past weekend.

As it often is, the mountain was angry that day and our race plan was changed last-minute, turning us around at the halfway point, and not allowing our support drivers & gear to travel up to the summit.

It's an unforgiving place, home of "The Worst Weather in America", and unfortunately it claimed the life of another person last night who died of exposure up there.

Was fairly serene with light rain and some winds at the starting area early that morning. That's not the mountain in the shot, just a nearby hill. Big George is off camera to the left.

It's been an amazing weekend here with the race excitement Saturday, Feast and Fun yesterday with my parents, and incredible cloudless sun here on this final day of Spring.

Enjoyed this delicious Dopplebock yesterday with some classic board games.

Had one last Modestman lingering in the fridge, and my freshly tanned self is very much enjoying it despite its age!

    Cheers peeps!

It's in Sutton MA. That's around a 50% increase in price. Outrageous.

Total Wine has it for $14.99 - I don't know if its just the store deciding to price gouge or what.

Seedz Unfamiliar Faces: Motueka, Mosaic, Citra. 3 of my top 5 hops in this one. Big hop character for 5%. Lime zest sorbet, tangelo, blueberry skin, ripe clementine and mango, white peach, orange pith, pink grapefruit, some lemon zest, bright pine. Quite dry and a nice bitterness. This might be my favorite of this series and, in all honesty, is the best pale ale, hazy or clear, I've had in some time. Outstanding.

On vacation today, which is probably a good thing considering the number of beers my brothers-in-law and I took down for Father’s Day bbq at my house yesterday. So drinking on a rare Monday, cuz why not? Troon Destined to Fester DIPA. Cheers!
