Bells '21 BBA Expedition Stout. For some reason this beer was just calling my name as I was looking in my cellar. I think it's been about 10 years since I last had this one. Loads of roasted malt, peat, coffee grounds, dark chocolate, black cherry, caramel, molasses, tobacco, drying oak tannin, significant bourbon, slight vanilla. A gigantic beer. Excellent stuff.

Good morning BAs! It has rained like holy heck all morning…drinking new to me and über local this morning - Hilo Brewing Company, Hilo, Hawai’i, HI, “Tsunami IPA”, DH with Amarillo and Centennial. Tasting notes over on the NBW thread:

    Hey there BAs!

It's been 3 straight days of beach here followed by various neighborhood house parties.

Trying to take a break from that today, but this truly remarkable beer might inspire me to pack yet another cooler and wander back down there.

Did not know Fat Head is collaborating with German brewers, very cool! Living in the Fat Head distro region, I wonder if I can get my hands on this one, or is it only available in the Vaterland?

Wow! I haven't heard a Winger song in ages. 17 was always a decent one. Thanks for the memories and for sharing.

    Cheers

I braved the holiday crazy traffic to visit Somers Point Brewing for a crowler of its new West Indies Stout for tonight. Now drinking an OC Amber Ale. Lots of caramel and chocolate and a crisp 5.9%, it’s a great summertime alternative to an IPA. Cheers from Somers Point, NJ!

It is too bad the taste is rather one-dimensional and harsh and doesn't live up to the suggestion of the smell. The mouthfeel also comes across a bit weak. Not a bad beer, but nothing overly exciting.

This has been in my fridge for a while. Thought it was a new beer to me, but apparently I had one in 2018. This is my first from the 2019 vintage, however.

A very tasty, non-adjunct BBA Imperial Stout. Like pretty much everything from pFriem, it's worth tracking down.

This can was not a bargain. Great beer, but insane pricetag.

Why? Why did you remind me of this haha? Back in the day I downloaded all of these classic PSAs from Ebaum's World. Glad to see someone compiled them into a single vid.

The perennial classic, pork chop sandwiches, is required to be posted now:

Is there anything the High Life can't do? I'm gonna have to cross-post this in the lacing thread.

    Cheers!

EDIT: @JZH1000 ... my point reinforced! Great pic!

Just got back in from a short bike ride - 5 miles. It's just too freaking hot out. There's no really easy rides around my house, it's pretty hilly. I did go off road to explore what they've been doing down near the power lines - nothing of interest though. I've heard there was a good sized pond but I didn't see anything except for a swampy area. Cleaned a gutter and rehung the down spout earlier this morning.

So now I'm cooling off with a Cold Pizza Pilsner. Probably going to get some storms moving through later on towards evening. Had storms move through this morning around 4 am which were pretty mild mannered but enough to keep waking me up. According to my lightning detector, 28 lightning strikes.

Now for an IPA I like - FW’s Union Jack:

Brief break in the rain so I’m taking pic on the outdoor shower balcony. Hard to make out the ocean in the background. The trees below? Lychee. A few in the back are still producing fruit…tasty buggers, right, sweet mild grapefruit-like flavor is my best description. I like better than the dragon fruit (expensive!) left, we have been buying at the local farmer’s market:

A pic of the hard rain earlier this morning, facing east towards Koi ponds 3 and 4:
