I used to love this movie, and Tarantino generally until I found him to be incredibly boring, self indulgent and overrated.

I could do without all this senseless, ear-cutting, men rapes etc gratuitous violence and cruelty.

“Just a movie” yeah get it, not for me anymore.

Good Morning BAs. Not much to choose from today. Hopefully we'll be able to refill the house stash soon. So, for now, this lager .....

@Shanex I think it would be fair to say that Tarantino's later films put a stain on his earlier work. I enjoyed Reservoir Dogs and while I think the Like a Virgin discussion is priceless, the Michael Madsen ear scene, was and is disturbing and fast forward worthy. Tarantino's 93/94 period is nothing short of amazing, his involvement in Natural Born Killers, True Romance and his writing and directing of Pulp Fiction are unparalleled for that era. As a director Tarantino has the ability to get performances out of his actors that are way above expectations. I thought Kill Bill Part One was great and the incredible amount of gore was handled better in that film than any of his others.

    Howdy all.
Just a chill walk this morning as we re-enter 90F and taking a day off.
Meanwhile, fight the sun with the Sip of it.

    Cheers....

Not much disagreement from me there. Reservoir Dogs was a masterpiece and so was Pulp Fiction the first few times I have watched them.

I still consider them both as his masterpiece, to this day even after his late careers and movies as he’s recently claimed he’d make a last one and be done with his career as a director but once again it might just be him seeking attention and he’s never been very conventional.

I give him credits where it’s due. He knows cinema, he knows how to make movies. I don’t really care about his foot fetish or penchant for violence, again it’s not different from plenty others (and worst!) movies nowadays that don’t nearly have his storytelling ability.

I have to say that I liked Once Upon a Time in Hollywood hence his last one, despite my comments before. Leo was good in it but Brad Pitt stole the whole show IMO.

    Cheers!

So finishing off the last of a beer we left at the “in-laws” five or so years ago. We fully expected to finish them years ago, but circumstances prevented it.

The beer isn’t at its peak, but this Backwoods Bastard is still damn tasty. Maybe it’s the hint of nostalgia that it represents that helps.

Hello Advocates and thanks @belvedere86 for todays thread. The pix of the villages you're posting are just divine. They shall color my dreams. Thanks for sharing!! Yesterday I was sure I'd have the entire day & nite off so I got all ready to strap myself onto a bar stool at the WBAYDN? and NBW threads, got one beer in me with a review & rating and then within 5 min of doing so got a call to shift a band rehearsal day to 5pm. Like in a few hrs. So I had to abandon ship and do that. Today has produced a good amount of haus frau honey do list items crossed off and I got a good run in this morning. Tmrw is when the heat wave kicks in here. Time now to chill. Hamm's Beer. That's what the can reads. Just beer. I plowed thru the 30 pk like a happy farmer...And "how does it drink" you ask? Well, it goes down like a $10 hooker. Cheers!

From The Land Of Sky Blue Waters. This is Half Moon Lake, the iconic image that Hamm's used. I drive past it a few times per year.

Same here. I lost all interest in his movies ever since we figured how chummy he probably was with the Weinsteins and after Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.

Been out since dawn watering and doing chores. Supposed to hit 97° today and the plan is to be inside.

    The beer.

Finished my morning chores. Sun peaking out making it hot. I'm now ducking inside, but not before starting this one.

Jumping in on Quentin Tarantino discussion, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood was good (really liked the cinematography) until the final 10-15 minutes. If I wrote it. I would have either ended it as it really happened, or had Manson's crew killed Roman Polanski instead of Sharon Tate.

I'll still watch clips of his films every now and then, but the only ones he directed today I believe I'd sit through today and watch are (in chronological order) Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown and Kill Bill.

His best film is the one he wrote the screenplay for, but Tony Scott directed it.
