Hop Dip from Hop Butcher, this one with Simcoe, Riwaka, Mosaic & Nelson. Nelson winning the battle of the hops in this one. Cheers to the long holiday weekend, BAs!

    Howdy BAs
Me and Henri are hanging out, Henri doesn’t move around too much anymore but he likes to be where I am.

Let's get this long weekend started! What better way than with a barrel-aged barleywine! Endolith from Jackie O's. Fantastic beer! Cheers my friends!

We didn't dig into any Tidal Creek. We saw a swath of "local" brews at some decent beer stores, but didn't want to spend much time researching. I love Two Claw, although the best we found on our trip was like 4 months old :slight_frown:

Oh, and I had a few of the Killians that we bought for my brother-in-law b/c we couldn't find anything (non-Sam Adams) near an equivalent to the DB Vienna Lager he likes.

I was watching that game on and off, too - thought they aren't in the Big Ten. Wonder if they're on our ACC schedule

The WVU-Pitt game was pretty good, and I actually watched more of it in its 4th quarter since the PSU-Purdue game was an hour behind.

I do not have any Port City Derecho but I do have some Port City Downright Pilsner which is next in the lineup.

I quite enjoy their lager series of beers. Downright Pilsner is on of their year-rounds. I haven't had it in a little while, but you might've prompted me to find a fresh batch since I have "proper glassware" for it.

Downright. A Pilsner brewed by Port City. Friday night usually means clams or oysters. Tonight it is clams. Not quite oyster season yet at least from the guys I buy from.

Second time at Great Heights Brewing this week, of coarse to get cheap 20 oz pours of their Oktoberfest. Which is great. Also finishing up this great novel by Chilean writer Jose Donoso, A House in the Country. Excellent fable/allegory meets satire and horror all at the same time ha.

Then over to Les Ba'get. Excellent Vietnamese, which is the base line for any Vietnamese restaurant in Houston.

Smoked brisket Banh Mi, foi gras, French baguette, and all the Vietnamese veggies/peppers. This is the definition of fusion, in the best way.

Oh, with a Yellow Rose

Pours into my tulip glass a turbid opaque pineapple juice shade with a creamy bright white head. Fluffy sticky lace.

Scent is pineapple, grapefruit, mango and citrus with some pine resin.

Taste is tropical fruit - mango, papaya, pineapple. Citrus - lime, oranges, grapefruit. There is a hint (just a hint) of pine resin. Some green melon. Seems like a touch of alcohol esters.
Mouth is oily and heavier than medium.

OK, finally tried this reasonably fresh. Very good. Would I rate it 100? Nope. But certainly a very well made and delicious double IPA.

I actually stuck to the grocery stores for beer-Lowes and Publix. Sucks on the Two Claw. Publix had a bunch of sixers over three months but I found one with less than a month on it. Score! Really enjoyed that beer.

I like the glass. Reminds me of the Blues Brothers. Were you folks as crazy as those dudes?

Just messing with you my friend. Are you still into home brewing?

First beer of the festbier/marzen season is a bit of a let down. Still a great Friday evening and college football is back so all is right with the world. Happy Friday all.
