Good day BAs! Thanks to @AzfromOz for pulling today’s rip cord on the VB. I got a Belgian-style triple in one of my Tavour boxes @Shanex, so my morning coffee is Hoppin’ Frog’s “Pentuple” in your honor:



Best by date May 2025. I believe canned in 2022. Poured at 54°. Described as a Tripel by the brewery. Winner of the 2019 Bronze and 2021 Gold medals at GABF in the Belgian-Style Strong Specialty Ale catagory. Amazing. A slow sipper at 15.1%. Fruity esters nose. Spicy banana bread, coriander, clove, caramel, peppery alcohol with a honey finish. A lot going on in this sneaky beer. Good thing it comes in an 8.45 oz can

I haven't been on in several days, but wanted to post this from earlier this week.

It's here, finally after about 15 years since his last, and at least 10 years of teasing this was coming...Cormac McCarthy's new book is out. Went to pick this up at the local bookstore I got to, Brazos. Then head to Under The Volcano just two blocks down the road to start this. This is my go to bar to start a new book of coarse Its also just been beautiful out, so their patio is perfect.

Chimay White, and starting The Passenger. The first of TWO books McCarthy is publishing this year



Then I had a Saint Arnold Pumpkinator.



Over to an old school restaurant that has been around for years...Roost. With a Lakewood IPA, and some fried green tomatoes


And some stuffed peppers with a Southern Star Buried Hatchet Stout, which is always underrated.



Oh yeah, that was a good day.

I'll be continuing on with The Passenger today, I'm sure I'll post some courtyard and beer pictures later on today...

 

Half Acre BA VIM, an excellent Baltic Porter, almost as good as a BA Stout!

Czechvar #2

 

This is my first time finding some fresher Czechvar lager. There are some difference's but it reminds me of how Stella use to taste, the Belgium brewed Stella. The good shit before we got a watered down US version. I could drink these all day long.

There is no comparison with our Bud vs this nowadays. This kills Bud. I could see Bud tasting like this back in the day tho.
