Have a new to me beer as usual on a Saturday.

    Maplewood The Chill Air

Full review in the New Beer Weekend #124 thread. WBAYDN treatment, this beer has nice complexity via the light aroma, but limited to bread, rye and caramel taste wise. Enjoying but not one to specifically seek down the road.

Spinning this very interesting album. Computer Music from my own University of Illinois ha. Composed in the 60's with the help of one of the early super computers the U of I had at the time, and performed as a classical piece with the university's band.

The linked video below isn't the exact piece that I'm spinning, but another in the U of I's classical computer music compositions. These are really cool.

    Hola, BA...

    Hopslamming...
An annual return - I kinda like when a beer comes out once a year, provided there's enough for the people who want to get it to get it (I don't wanna chase or feel pressed to get a beer anymore lol) - Brooklyn's Chocolate Stout and Anchor's Special Ale are also good examples available now - makes me enjoy them all the more when I have them...

So, this is Hopslam's second canning this year (previous canning was 1/13/22), and I'm feeling a lot the same about it - the hoppage is big, with juicy pine and pith... A bitter shellac coats the tongue; airy and plush feel - and all with honey winding throughout...

Know what Bell's beer I haven't had in a real long time that I used to love?

    The Oracle.
Remember that? Looks like they stopped brewing it a few years ago (?), but its been way longer than that since I last had it...

Anyways, Happy Saturn's Day, BA (sorry it's not Norse (fucking Saturn!))...

Hopefully the Danish metal sets things straight...

    Cheers...

    Bonus points:
Saturn was a Roman god celebrated each December during...

    ...(*wait for it*)...

    ...Saturnalia... :astonished:

Good weekend to you Advocates and thanx @Shanex for 3696. I'm punchin' in today with a Stone Hazy IPA. For this one (perhaps I shoulda done this for the bottle of Tangerine Express as well), I'm rolling the bottle to mix the sediment. The bottle is a bit warped, and it swings back n forth on its own. Ha! Meant to be. It's a very clean drinking and great tasting lil' Hazy. Cheers!!

    Howdy all,
Got my 18 mile run in this a.m. and the hamstring is.... alright. Manageable.
Time for the usual beverage (NA UA Ital PIls) after I DEMOLISHED several batches of buckwheat waffles, with blueberries and syrup, por supuesto.

Have a good one - figured the Dutch would demolish the U.S., and while it was a decent match, we're just not there yet - at least I have another team in the mix still (France).
Shot of the day already goes to North and @M-Fox24 !

Saint Arnold Tarnation in the glass. A really good Strong Ale (not really a Barleywine or Old Ale), and one that I am liking more and more ever time I have it. Which means its a good beer

    Hey BA's

Picked up this single when I stopped at the Thirsty Dog Taproom here in Akron a few days ago - nice IPA to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad - took my daughter when she was little (like 25 years ago) for their Polar Express reinactment - it was awesome! Beautiful train ride through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park!

Cycle Brewing -- BA SZN - Chocolate Orange
3 year barrel-aged stout with chocolate orange
    ABV: n/a; pouring temperature: 45 °F; bottling info: 2022

    4.38/5 rDev -2.4%
    look: 4 | smell: 4 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.75 | overall: 4.5

Cycle never posts the ABV for their barrel aged beers, so I'm guessing this one falls somewhere in the 10-12% ABV range. The chocolate and orange presence is at the fore and is nicely balanced with the rest of the beer's elements. The mouthfeel is amazingly dense and rich in texture. A very delightful barrel aged imperial stout with a nice touch of orange presence to add complexity to an already excellent base beer.
..."...dark amber to copper..." as per the BJCP and "...medium amber to deep brown..." per the BA style description - as I described it as "dark amber" in my overall review in NBW, I see it as meeting the style guidelines...
