    This is a decent beer although, in my mind, seems a bit thin and weak for the style. The looks and taste are its high-points.

    ...I wouldn't exactly say I'm 'front-loading' for midnight (I'm sure I'll be in bed before midnight), but may as well end the year as well as start a year by opening with a big ale...

    I've got a new-to-me imperial stout with cinnamon buns on hand, but I don't think I feel up to something that crazy. Instead I'll go with a familiar-to-me imperial stout with doughnuts, which is totally way more normal, right? :wink:

    In all seriousness, back when Evil Twin was one of the few breweries putting out beers like this, Jeppe always made sure that his stouts still tasted like stouts, not desserts: bitter and roasty. I very much appreciate that approach - although I can also appreciate a good pastry stout now and then. :wink:

    Thanks to @dcotom, I know today is the day for this one. Cleaning the house and prepping an appetizer for tonight.

    Favorite album of the year is actually three, all by the same band (they released five this year). One day at work a few months back, I was looking for old Genesis songs on YouTube. That led me to Porcupine Tree. A day later, while looking for songs from them, YouTube suggested a King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard song. And my life hasn’t been the same ever since.

    They’re prolific, they’re eclectic, they’re amazingly produced, they’re awesome live (I still have to see them in person, but on video....damn), they’re talented as hell, and these three albums are all different in their own way. The three songs below are also my favorite three songs of the year, in no particular order (and the shortest one is nine minutes long). The albums are “Omnium Gatherum”, “Changes”, and “Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushrooms, and Lava.” I’ll be listening to the two I own shortly.

    NBW and Barleywine Appreciation Thread cross-post. I went to my favorite liquor store in Milwaukee, WI, then stopped at Ope! Brewing for one beer. Ope! Brewing is the perfect place to visit after a Milwaukee Brewers game, but they do not have any beers that come close to the beers I purchased at the store. I thought about going to Central Waters Brewing's Milwaukee location, but I was too excited to try this beer. I am glad I chose to drink this beer.

    At only six months of age, I would expect a bolder smell and aroma profile, but it wasn't there with this beer. Decent overall, but not by much.
