    Howdy all and welcome to 2023!

    I hope I'm not being rude in starting this one before @dcotom kicks off one of his 12 Days of Christmas WBAYDNs. Stupid Aussies and their timezones...

    So, I sheepishly present the first beer of 2023: The Hype Man by Co-Conspirators Brewing Company.

    Two ex-homebrewing couples started this brewery, producing fine ales an hour up the road from me. This one really hit the spot after a day of homebrewing of my own in 38C (100F) temperatures, which made it all the more surprising that I was able to chill the beer down to pitching temperature using just an immersion chiller attached to one of the garden taps.

    Hopefully the beer and the homebrewing win are an omen for good things to come in 2023. Well, I bloody hope so anyway!

    The worst thing about New Year’s Day...trying to find my glasses. (Edit: I did, right after I put the old pair on)

    The best thing (so far).... this beer. (Edit: this is my favorite vintage of this one)

    To ring in the new year: Gulden Draak Cuvée Prestige Laphroaig Barrel Aged Strong Ale - a unique and absolutely beautiful beer that looked very much at home in a champagne glass!

    Up, hydrating with the usual NA/UA suspect, and itching to go on these sore legs. Yeah, I'm weird.

    Spending New Years at my in laws so beer wise just sipping on a variety of inexpensive AALS and a Sam’s mixer. But the actual star of the show was a couple bottles of Buffalo Trace.
