Greeting all, have a nice Tuesday…

Drinking Chimay and their strong blonde iteration. Good one! 10%. Drinks a bit like Duvel to only name another great Belgian one.

Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for starting today's thread - you can't go wrong with Chimay!

    Today's New Breakfast Beer:

So far, this is the best tasting beer from the BA Extreme Beer Box (4 to go, saving Paraboloid for last) - coconut, coffee, undetectable peanut butter (Thank Dog!). It's also my first from Finback Brewery and leaves me wanting more! Delicious!
    Rating 4.37, rDev +2.6%

And here's the photo that goes with yesterday's New Breakfast Beer:

Now I'll post this and see what actually shows up!

Glad that you like it, as sort of a reward to you for the many beers you offered.

It’s a local one, brewed in my region in northern Paris, hence why I wanted you to try it. For a local beer it’s okay-ish and one you couldn’t have found up there.

You again have my apologies for that stupid 3 Monts can that was broken during the journey. It’s only my fault. My backpack still smells like beer to this day. :slight_frown:

I like it. Reminds me of some artisanal beers I've had near the Belgian French border and the area of Poperinge.

Once I had a leaking can (and garlic oily olives too, to make things worse) in my backpack. Best is to rinse it out with soapy water in a bathtub, shower or large sink and leave it outside to dry.

Looking forward to have some 3 Monts together in France someday.

    Cheers

So Stout is proposed for breakfast! I got a good one right here that gave me a little silly buzz face at noon.
Maybe I’ll leave the last couple of pulls as a “shower beer”. See how that goes.,. Cheeeeeeers!

Good morning, all! I stopped in at the bottle shop earlier and ran across this pleasant little surprise at the growler fill station: They Call Me Joy, an imperial (14.5% ABV) barrel aged (9 months in Heaven Hill barrels) stout from Tellurian Brewing, Charles City, IA. Brewed with vanilla beans, toasted almonds, and toasted coconut. Truth be told, I couldn't get the money out of my pocket fast enough. This is flavorful enough to bring to mind an Almond Joy bar, but without the attendent sweetness. My only problem with this is deciding whether to drink the whole crowler at once or to save some for later. Yeah, I know. Third-world problems, yadda, yadda, yadda...

EVERY SINGLE TIME i start my day with an Imperial Stout , BA Imperial Stout, Strong Ale or anything over 7% my day turns to shit ( in relation to how i feel physically) . I sometimes forget that beer is bad for your body.

This is a trial run to see if starting with a lower ABV changes anything .

I started out with the Wake Up WWS - so for the only extreme box beer I've had - extreme coffee and extreme ethanol - the rest have been OK but not really extreme, just impy stouts. I'm not a fan of peanut butter in my beer - fortunately so far the ones from the box have been pretty easy on the PB. I started off saving Paraboloid for last, so I should hit it this weekend - just in time for NBW.

    1) Humble Forager Forbidden Fortune (8.0% canned 11/1/22): A NEIPA from Wisconsin with Mosaic Nelson, Strata for flavors of grapefruit, passionfruit, peaches, pineapple. Oat cream for a smooth, soft finish.
    versus
    2) Other Half Space Diamonds (8.5% canned 10/31/22): A NEIPA from NY with Galaxy for flavors of grapefruit citrus rind, peaches, some cream. (Mismatched the two blind)

    Winner:
    1) Humble Forager Forbidden Fortune:
Both of these are bangers. Space diamonds drinks with fantastic flavors from the Galaxy with a touch of grapefruit citrus rind. Humble Forager was extremely similar. Tons of passionfruit citrus with a smooth oat cream body. Surprisingly both were nearly similar. Expected from Other Half, but Humble Forager went out of their way to impress me with this one.

Haha - no, but that Shackleton book is a favorite (have a first edition of Lansing's book)....this particular boat was gifted to me a few years back, (an English built twin keeler called an Alacrity), and I decided to leave her in the water several winters ago, and she fares just fine! Very solid cruising boat!
