Nah, keep on drinking them clear IPAs.

 

1) Surly Skeleton Tree (7.2%): A Baltic Porter from Minnesota with flavors of smooth chocolate, dark/black grains, lightly floral yeast. Dry and clean.
versus
2) Oliphant Nose Hozzle (8.0%): A Baltic Porter from Wisconsin with flavors of dark chocolate, bitter espresso roast, cocoa and hints of vanilla. Dry, roasty, lightly bitter. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Winner:
2) Oliphant Nose Hozzle: Hard to believe I'm picking over Surly. Skeleton Tree drinks fantastic. Dark malts and complex yeast flavors. Great Surly yeast flavors with a touch of floral. As for a Baltic Porter however, Nose Hozzle hits the nail on the head. Dark, roasty, yet smooth. Always a bit odd name and can art, but spot on for a Baltic Porter.

One last beer up on the rooftop patio before I break for late lunch. What a beautiful day. Sunshine, snowy mountain peaks in the distance, warm in the sunlight, even in the winter. I'd still prefer to eventually live somewhere warmer, but Colorado winters are definitely better than New York's, that's for sure!

A beer I brought with me on last night’s flight, to share at the bar - Toping Goliath’s Celestial Paradise, a DIPA with Simcoe, Strata, Citra and Galaxy:




Semi sweet melon and citrus. A hit with the bartender and friends. Cheers!

Off work early for a Dr. appointment. Home now having a beer before putting a new battery in my work car. Date stamp on the old battery shows it was made in 2014. Pretty good run there.
