What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #3780

Good Saturday afternoon, BAs. It’s a cold, gray, rather dreary day. Mrs. Mac and I spent the afternoon photographing family grave sites in Fort Lee and Fairview for my genealogy research. Now wetting my beak at Five Dimes Brewery in Westwood. Starting with Hazy Place, a NEIPA. Mostly bitter grapefruit and lemon but hitting the spot. Cheers!

 

Eis Fest at Pollyanna today for their Jötenheimer eisbock release. They are proud of not only their legal ability to brew this but the actual beer itself, as well. Freezing an 8% dopplebock and distilling a 10% eisbock requires both a brewer's license and a distiller's license. Guess who has both?

With added flavors, in my order of preference: regular eisbock kills it, boozy, but appropriate;
vanilla, adds a sweeter note;
Ghost pepper, adds a back of the throat heat; and Dark Matter coffee is dark, black coffee. (Burnt to me, but pay no attention to my aversion to coffee).

I was tasked by @Mdog to look into the chunky floaty on top of this work of beer perfection. I spooned it out. Pure cinnamon. Or as certain Scandinavians say, cinn-amon, amon, amon, amon, amon. @mickyge, wa-wa-we-wa!

Columbus - IPA

Courtesy of @jzeilinger, who was very amused by my enthusiasm for a Columbus beer. Never had one so I was very excited. This is fresh and delicious. Drinking it while watching a very entertaining Arizona-ASU game, ahead of Purdue vs Indiana later on.

 

Tropicàlia IPA Creature Comforts

I am retiring at the end of the month, and my co-workers threw a retirement party for me last night. I have worked there thirty-seven years, and a lot of people from the old days showed up.My office gave me a one-year pass to the South Carolina state parks which I plan to start using March 1.

I’m now drinking One Louder, an English Barleywine, at Five Dimes Brewery. While it’s not quite a “wow” beer, it’s spot-on for one of my favorite styles. My only complaint is that it’s served too cold and the smell never developed. If they packaged it, I would take some home. Cheers from Bergen County, NJ!
