Good day BAs! Off to a cool, damp start to the day, 35F/2C and cloudy. Off to Aldi's shortly for some smoked salmon. To jump right in with today's New Breakfast Beer:

(After stripping off the parasitic attachment)

Looks good, but it's an outdated cream ale so what can you expect, like Bud Lite without hops. Rating 3.24, rDev -8%.

Not really in the mood for more coffee, so I suppose I'll kick off the day with some "coffee."

Lovely snow day, and everyone is home. We've had just over 6 inches of snow so far, and it's still lightly falling.

    Cheers!

Good Morning/afternoon peers! Pleasant very sunny and almost mild weather this afternoon.

Home cleaning/chores and the car are about tidy and well taken care of. Haven’t done a sketch in a while and this might be my evening task. Good for a beer, or two:

Drinking my go-to, easily found and available Belgian strong pale ale:

Good morning/day BAs! Stayed up late watching TV, then slept in again…kitchen chores done…it’s coffee time, joining @TwentyDimes with a Guinness Foreign Extra Stout:

I had planned on taking it easy today, but I’ll probably end up in the garage moving stuff around (which is ok on a cooler cloudy day such as this). And for our grammar geeks, “this” is not a dangling modifier as it refers back to “day”, which is appropriate for the sentence]. Cheers beer brethren!

Lunch beer - Perennial Artisan Ale’s “17” Mint Chocolate Stout:

Best By date 3/14/23. Poured at 53°. Absolutely no head, ring, nor lace. Black with ruby edges. Thin Mint cookie nose is present but subtle. Chocolate with only a smidge of mint on the tongue as beer warmed. Silky feel, medium body, light carbonation; a little warmth from 11.5% abv. Overall, I initially wrote in my log book “boring”, but as the beer warmed, notes of mild mint presented and maybe that’s all one can hope for 2 weeks before “best by” date…

    3.0 | 3.5 | 3.5 | 3.75 | 3.5
    Score: 3.5 rDev - 12.1%

A drop off from when I reviewed this beer last November, 2022.

    Cheers Tuesday beer drinkers!

Quick solitary passage to a trusted pub before returning home after a very tiring day's work.
I'm with the PC therefore more comfortable than doing everything from the phone, since I always like to add a few personal words about what I'm drinking rather than just putting the photo.
I'll drink this and that's it for today, but there's a great tap list here... I hope to go back more calmly during the week.
Microbirrificio Opperbacco (Notaresco, Abruzzo, ITA) - ABRUXENSIS variante Frutti di bosco - Farmhouse Wild Ale with fruit (5,5%*)

*Having already drunk it (both on tap and in bottles) I pointed out that the exposed medallion shows 5.1%, but it was confirmed to me that there was a very small error in reporting it... usual nerd figure. I'm surprised that someone can still put up with me... Luckily I'm so alone on this topic of craft beers, I swear.

Farmhouse that uses Saccharomyces, Torulaspora yeasts and two Brettanomyces strains selected from local grapes and fermented and aged in barriques of former Montepulciano d'Abruzzo wines from local cellars.
These beers are produced seasonally on a 4-month cycle, with typical materials of the area (Abruzzo) at zero km (oranges, pomegranates, gentian roots, elderflowers, etc... many variations).
In this case it is the variant with berries.
Red fruit on the nose (cherry, red currant)
    Minimal foam.
    Ruby colour, a little lighter.
In the mouth red fruit and a clear astringency quickly arrives, which dehydrates the tongue a little, but at the same time not excessive.
The finish is grainy: the wheat emerges (perhaps too much), while a taste of red currant and raspberry remains on the palate.
The initial part also has a fruity character tending to sweet, but then the astringent note cleans it all up... Too bad about the large final cereal taste... a drier and cleaner finish would have been better.
Good, although I found it in better shape.

Ayinger Maibock at the Bavarian Grill. Had a half day and decided to indulge in a great beer. It's unfortunate how difficult maibocks are to find in North Texas.

    Afternoon BA!

A sunny 78° degrees here in Atlanta, just took the dogs on a walk, enjoying the weather on the porch with Creature Comforts new year-round Hazy IPA, Bigger Dreams. It’s not Tropicalia by any stretch but a solid beer.

Cross post with my final entry in the Celluary thread.

    Bourbon County Brand Stout (2017)

Full hot take linked here. Bottom line, this is six months beyond the 5 year bottle target, feels thin and much sweeter than typical BCBS experiences. Best to drink fresh, or if you must, within 1-2 years, to avoid this type of situation.

Poured half now, but will likely stick the remaining portion with the bottle, and finish both after lunch so I can make my walk on this beautiful Chicago afternoon to / from without falling asleep. Will post the second half of the bottle only if the experience substantially changes.

Two from Billy Taylor on this two for Tuesday.
