Added to my compost pile, got it turned and watered. Time for a beer.

Work done for the day, having a Stone IPA ..



Spring is definitely in the air - 69 degrees F around here today.

 

1) Portage As Old As Time (5.0%): A wood-aged Vienna lager from Minnesota with flavors of bread malt, earthy and oakey flavors, and a buttery finish. Smooth and rich.
versus
2) Modist Unending 5.1% (5.0%): An oak-aged Vienna lager from Minnesota with flavors of brown bread, caramel, lightly oakey and floral notes. Drinks clean and dry. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Winner:
1) Portage As Old As Time: A rainy day battle between two Minnesota breweries with wood-aged Vienna lagers. Such a cool beer-style. Modist has been doing this for a while with some of their beers. This is another great version. The lager is clean and the oak sits a bit back and is rather mild. Portage outdid themselves with theirs. Stronger oak and earthy flavors, even a little bit buttery. Heavier and more rich. I hope this oak-aging becomes a thing because I absolutely dig it.

Happy Tuesday ba. Downing some lager fast and finishing these off. Probably won’t revisit anytime soon.

I hate to tell you that it's 81 F here and too hot. I liked yesterday's 65 F better. At least you have a beer that'll stick to your ribs!

 

New Belgium Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA, outside on a nice NJ afternoon excellent brew.

 

More snow today and maybe all day.
I'm ready for a beer.
