Arrived at The Beer Temple and as always a great beer board to choose from.

    Oxbow Luppolo

    Beer Temple Notes:
$9 16 oz draft pour into a Pilsner glass. Italian Pilsner, 5% ABV.

Appearance: Golden clear straw pour, heavy sustained carbonation, creamy full head post slow pour lingers for quite several minutes. 4.5

    Aroma:
Light aroma, pepper, cracker, lemongrass. 3.75

    Taste:
Firmer taste, dry hoppiness first sensation, mildly salted cracker follows. Floral lemongrass and pine pops out after a few sips, grainy mineral water. All works well. 3.75

    Mouthfeel:
Light to mildly dry, thin watery body, faint carbonation seen more than felt adds slight depth. Drinks easy, At or below ABV, faint dry clean crisp finish. 4.0

    Overall:
This is a solid Italian Pilsner, dry light and easy, perfect for the warmest day of the year to date. 3.75

I’ll spare the board the disco song going on here, and play two from the recent WDCB playlist.

Live that they have fresh pours on cask, can’t find it fresh elsewhere in our market.

Been slow nursing my pours waiting for a certain Floridian.

[IMG] 1) Tripping Animals Killer Kölsch (4.5%): A Kölsch-style ale from Florida with flavors of vinous grape and apple. Yeasty with a fruity finish.
    versus
    2) Fair State Köld (4.7%): A Kölsch-style ale from Minnesota with flavors of vinous, citrus, and orchard-fruit yeast flavors atop a pale malt body. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Fair State Köld:
A Killer Kölsch Battle. First try at this Tripping Animals Kölsch. It drinks pretty well. Lots of vinous grape and apple flavors. A little tooty fruity though.
Fair State has a most excellent Kölsch. It gets the win for being breadier and more yeasty. Fantastic complexity and drinkability.

Enjoying a very unusual porter from Burial last fall made with an array of ingredients including dark fruits and nuts, rhubarb, and cardamom which lends a nutmeg menthol flavor BUT weirdly ties everything together.
A friend just invited me to go see I See Hawks in LA up in Asheville next Tuesday. Never heard of them but am finding their music well made.
    Cheers!

    Howdy BA's! Almost Friday.

Trying something a little different for me but still in the classic beers realm. Coniston Brewing Co. Old Man Ale English Brown Ale (4.8%) made with Challenger hops. The beer manager at my favorite bottle shop gave me a heads up he brought some of this in. This is really nice. Very rich and robust yet drinkable. It must be very righteous on cask! Cheers!

We made the long drive down to Chapel Hill, NC today. Saturday is our daughter's "hooding" (fancy term for receiving her PhD). I've unloaded the car and am relaxing with a favorite DIPA from back home in Jersey - Ludlam Island's The Big Dirty. Tonight, we're meeting both son and daughter and their spouses for dinner downtown. I wouldn't be surprised if more beer is on the menu. Thursday cheers, BAs!

Chambo's very accustomed to staying in the Residence Inn in Chapel Hill. Lots of familiar smells and she brought her favorite toys!

Fidens - Painting Dreams (Single Hop West Coast IPA, with Strata)

This is possibly the best beer I have had from Fidens (and all of them have been great). Maybe it's my bias and love for WC IPAs, but this one is exquisite. The dumbass that I am, I only grabbed a single can of it. Gotta make it back to Albany ASAP.
