I spent a year in Vienna 30 years ago. The beer wasn't this good. I remember drinking lots of Gösser, German Hefeweizen and Czech beer when I could find it.

The Bug Man. A DIPA brewed by Veil. The last release was five years ago. Some really good looking, extremely intelligent dude named vabeerguy was the one who added the beer to the Veil review list in 2018.

I gave the beer a great score in 2018 but not as enthralled with it now. What changed?

Up next is a Ghost in the Machine, a little long of tooth but tasting great. I made an impulse buy today without a lot of research, but it was cheap and I think really cool, @LarryV is this a pretty decent little amp to use when I don't want to bother my wife?.........

I’ve stayed a few times and it’s a fun spot. Comps moved over there after Stardust sadly closed. Don’t gamble much anymore, Boyd doesn’t comp much either for VP play, but still will stay there on a decent sale offer.

Stayed there that trip to be within a couple miles of the Leap Day Beer Festival run by Beer Zombies at their location near the then still under construction Raiders Stadium.

Also saw the former minor league hockey team (The Wranglers) play at The Orleans Arena before the Golden Knights arrived.

Never seen either performer you saw in concert, though would like to see them both.

Long day of driving and site seeing…Day 40 of the journey, brewery number 42 - Spearfish Brewing Company, trying a flight:

Venner Beer (lager), Half A Horse (IPA), Bird Bones (Imp. Stout), and Adventurepants (Double Pale Ale). The stout is the only one I could finish…

Off to the next brewery. Cheers from Spearfish, SD!

I wish I could still get this in NC. It’s delicious even after 3 months on a room temp shelf at a Fairfax TW.

Veil rarely brews the same beer more frequently than three or four times a year. Usually, it is a year or so in between. I think they have retired about 25% of what they have released. The one I just had was brought out of retirement from 2018. So not sure when you may find the beer you are looking for.

Check out the Veil beer listing on BA. Maybe it will show if the beer is active or retired. As for me, a Veil Master Shredder IPA is next in the lineup.

Have a good hump day. Another busy week of meetings as usual. Rushed out at 450 but had to get gas. Going to the rhapsody of fire show tonight. Just parked on the street in uncg. The gate city lot was deserted lol. Started reading Helter skelter today and it is pure madness. Also a really well written book.

I walked over to freemans pub while the line forms out side the club. I got a bluejacket style and grace ordinary bitter. This is really good. Muted nose of biscuit, pine/woody hops, and pear/apple fruits. Taste of big biscuit, toast, light caramel/roast, cedar, mint, peppercorn, pine, citrus rind, pear, apple, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good sized pine/rind/woody bitter finish. Medium carb, light body, fairly crisp finishing with lingering resins and mild astringency. This was super clean with minimal diacetyl detection, maybe a slight finishing hit. This was more aggressive than I expected on resins but very well made for the style. 3.93
