I'm having a celebratory Chimay Green while breaking in my new Weber Performer Deluxe charcoal grill. After some issues getting the Weber Connect thermometer to actually connect to Bluetooth with several resets on both the thermometer and my phone, all is good smoky pork roast now.
Smells so good! Can't beat a natural hardwood charcoal grill for flavor.
Time for a homebrewed Spitfire Kentish Ale clone. Yum!

Good afternoon BAs. Today is my Friday. I'll be taking tomorrow and next week off work. Yay me! I'll be visiting the non-drinking side of the family over the weekend, so I'll be living vicariously through you guys for a few days. Until then, I'll get a few cold ones in

Akademia Brewing Co Skål a 5.8% Norwegian style wheat ale. I haven't had this beer in quite a while but I still like it. Great summer beer. Utilizes Kveik yeast. Kind of a cross between Hefeweizen and Witbier is the best way I can describe it. Light to medium bodied but pillowy soft on the palate. Nice aromas and flavors of pears, apricot & pineapple mixed with spicy hops. Good start. Akademia is "the other brewery" in Athens, GA besides its better known cohort Creature Comforts. Cheers!

How is the smoke haze in your neck of the woods?

 

1) Spiral Townie (5.0%): A Kölsch-style ale from Minnesota with flavors of sweet grape, apple, and yeast .
versus
2) Fair State Köld (4.7%): A Kölsch-style ale from Minnesota with flavors of vinous, citrus, and orchard-fruit yeast flavors atop a pale bread malt body. (Correctly matched the two beers blind

Winner:
2) Fair State Köld: Minnesota Kölsch battle. First try at this one from Spiral Brewing. It's a pretty good take on a Kolsch. Sweet grape and apple flavors, but also enough yeast to back it up. Slightly heavier and mildly sweet. Fair State makes a banger though. Fruity, yet complex yeasty flavors. One of the most balanced and complex Kölschs I've come across. One of the best and on par for Fair State.

 

Great beer. Smoked pork roast is sounding quite tasty right now!
