    So this week I went with some friends to a Columbus Club porketta dinner, served in courses family-style, with about 150 loud guys drinking too much wine! When asked if I was a paisan, I said "no, but I want to be!" The menu was incredible, with soup, salad, and roasted garlic cloves in olive oil to drizzle on Italian bread, ziti with meat sauce, then the porketta with roasted potatoes. My buddy ate at least 40 cloves of garlic on the bread, and we teased him that his wife wouldn't come near him for weeks - he said, so no difference, right? What a night! :beer:

    Pours a murky, dirty light brown color; dense, lively carbonation; thin, patchy, fizzy head, light khaki color. Very pleasant aroma; sweet; cherry and plum; raw oak. Outstanding taste; caramel and vanilla; light phenol flavor; plum and tobacco; a mild suggestion of milk chocolate; bourbon. Heavy mouthfeel yet soft and velvety; delicate stickiness; light touch of alcohol warmth.

    The looks don't amount to much, but everything else comes out just fine. Pretty easy to drink even with its high ABV.

    Seen ya got some Rare Breed. I think I prefer it over the Russell's 10yr tbh. I remember the single barrel Russell's being significantly better. Iv got my eyes set on some Eagle Rare at a decent price. Might hoard a bottle or 2 of Buffalo Trace while I can get it for the cheap. They had a few bottles of EH Taylor and Blanton's but is out of my price range atm. Started bottle hunting for the season as you can tell. :wink:

    I've been craving some WT of late. 101 would have been fine, but was starting to eye RB or RR (had both of them before, but it's been a while). Anyway, splurged for the RB.

    I love E.H. Taylor. My last bottle (of which some remains), is Single Barrel. Bought it 2-3 years ago, special order. Cost about $60. What was the asking prices for the stuff you saw?...it's a shame that once common bourbons (that are still around) have now become high-priced and rarer to find.

    Anyway, being a bit of a bachelor this early afternoon, so maybe I'll head out to the 'Fortress of Solitude - Main', fire up a stogie, pour another beer plus a snort of Col. Taylor...you've inspired me!...:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
