    Good morning and hoppy new week advocates.

    Well, we spent this Sunday on the northern shore of France and got home late yesterday evening cause of horrendous traffic. It’s literally still summer here for the time being. 80F and sunny for several days now.

    Good morning BAs! Thanks @Shanex for getting us going. My first breakfast stout in over a week - FBS:

    Bottled 7/13/23. Poured at 53°. I’m going to enjoy this coffee…later today I drive back to Miami and start a second trial tomorrow, so no more morning beers this week.

    Enjoying my third and final planned New Beer this extended Columbus Day Weekend with my first from this well considered brewery.

    Notch The Standard

    Long review in the extended New Beer Weekend #168 thread. WBAYDN treatment, this is a classic and solid Czech Pils, one of the better ones I've enjoyed over the years. Hits all the expected notes well, look forward to my upcoming Notch Brews in the fridge and hopefully beyond. I know this is solid because I had to slow down to finish my tasting notes and this post with less than half the can left.

    Going to celebrate Columbus Day by hopefully finding Cannoli in the store and then my favorite local Italian Beef at Jay's (love Bob-O's too, though further away after they sadly closed their Milwaukee Ave. location).

    -Look: Beautiful clear deep golden amber with a thick creamy head.
    -Aroma: Wonderful grapefruit and mild orange, slight pine, light toast.
    -Taste: Delicious mild grapefruit and citrus, one pine needle.
    -Feel: Pillowy-soft and round, smooth lager-feel, slightly dry.
    -Overall: This is still the one that can scratch my itch!

    -This is 30-days old and doesn't get any better! Cheers! :beer:

    Good afternoon, BAs! A couple of beers from earlier this morning:

    I had to get my run in before I could get started on chili. We're trying beyond meat for ground "beef" to be inclusive with our oldest, who's a vegetarian; if this works out in terms of texture, I might stick with it so that she can always enjoy.

    Bean selection is always tricky, but I love me some kidney beans (it's in my personal top 5 beans, @FBarber ), so I just doubled up there (light and dark). A 2018 Narwhal (I forgot the beer last time :sob: ), some dried pepin and fresh habaneros for heat (the jalapenos are really more for flavor).

    I'll dial it in with more pepin and/or brown sugar if necessary as everything cooks down, but so far, tasting totally on point. And the early returns on the texture of the beyond meat are positive!
