    1) Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn (6.0%):
A German Festbier with flavors of pale malt, dry bread, grains, yeast. Crisp and carbonated.
    versus
    2) Andechs Spezial Hell (5.8%): A German Festbier with flavors of earth and pale Munich malt, light honey and floral notes. Mildly sweet and smooth. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Andechs Spezial Hell:
German Festbier Battle. Two great authentic ones. Have had Paulaner a number of times and one of the best. Bready, yeasty, and balanced. Slightly dryer than some of the others I've had.
First go at Andechs which makes some of the best German Lagers. Earthy and toasty pale Munich malts and honey. Less bready, yeasty than Paulaner. Sort of reminds me of Ayinger Jahrhundert Dortmunder, but slightly more toasty. Both of these are top notch, but Andechs had a more earthy and complex German malt flavor profile. This is one of, if not the best, festbiers I've had.

Here some quick suggestions for Amsterdam in case you have more time:

    T'IJ Brewery and Taproom: https://www.brouwerijhetij.nl/?lang=en

In de Wildeman (Great beers and food) Kolksteeg 3 Amsterdam https://www.indewildeman.nl/

Nephew and his girlfriend are over. We’re watching the new Haunted Mansion (and no, I’m not talking about Soldier Field and what’s going on there).

Assuming the position, I hope, for the rest of the season...more courtyard, beer, and book time with the pupper. Though my pupper Moe, has run off to play with my neighbors kid for a while, she might not give him back ha. It is a beautiful day out.

Riggs Oktoberfest in the glass, which is always great. Still have a few of these and a few more Tucher's as well.

@beergoot , It has been a long time since I read anything from Alexander Solzhenitsyn, might as well start that up again. This edition has interesting letters Solzhenitsyn wrote to the Congress of Soviet Writers about censorship, and the immoral treatment the Soviet Union had against many writers of the time, and mentions Vasily Grossman's treatment as well, Grossman is one of my favorite Russian writers. His personal story is hair raising, so is Solzhenitsyn's as well. One of the letters is about how this book has already been illegally published as sort of bootleg copies in the West, but because of censorship, can't be published at all in the Soviet Union.

    1) Hop Butcher Orange Fly (7.5% canned 8/8/23):
A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra & Waimea for flavors of orange flower, grapefruit zest, tropical pineapple, mangos and papaya.
    versus
    2) Hop Butcher The Jewels (7.5% canned 8/15/23): A NEIPA from Chicago with Mosaic and Vic Secret for flavors of milky pineapple, dusky, green pine. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) Orange Fly:
Sunday Hop Butcher Battle. It's not every day you get to enjoy Hop Butcher BeerAdvocates. Been saving these two. I've had Orange Fly which has a bright citrus profile. Nice combo of Citra nad Waimea. Had a bit of a bite initially which has tamed a bit with age.
The Jewels is one of my favorite Hop Butcher IPAs and haven't had it since they made it last year. Strong Mosaic ntes with enough Vic Secret to give it some grapefruit and zest. Not quite as good as I remember but maybe it was a bit brighter if more fresh. Both are fantastic, and overall I thought Orange Fly was far juicier and with brighter citrus notes. Great NEIPA.

Good Sunday afternoon, BAs. I'm home after my short trip to North Carolina. I had a great time at a family/church reunion yesterday but consecutive weekends of traveling have worn me out. It's a beautiful mid-October afternoon in North Jersey and I'm enjoying a Märzen, Engel, from Autodidact Beer, out of the Boot. Autumnal cheers!
