    Good day all!

Storm Ciarán is currently battering north west France and southern England. A wind gust of 207 km/h (128miles per hour) has been recorded in Britanny overnight. So far no tree has fallen on my car. Ooof.

    Drinking Trappistes Rochefort 8.

    Cheers.

...hang in there @Shanex...high winds (many times around 120 - 160 kph / 80 -100 mph) happen too frequently, many times with significant tree damage...

Thanks! Despite being a bit of a heavyweight I almost flew away while getting out of the car with my errands. Safely home for now.

    Good morning ladies and gentlemen,
this week I got the news that a great friend of mine will have a son in April, so yesterday I invited him home to open one of those bottles where he expects a happy event to open them.

Cascade Brewing (Portland, US) - NECTARINE DREAM 2019 -Blend of Blond Ales Barrel Aged with peach nectarines (7.5%)

Second and last 50 cl bottle. that I had in the cellar (where it was stored in the right way).
Lot still brewed by the legendary Brewmaster Chris Crabb, before the sale of the brewery.
It is a blend of Blonde Ales (Belgian-style beers) that have spent more than 18 months in oak barrels and foudres and which have had a further 5 month fermentation on top of fresh peaches, nectarines.
The label reads: "He followed a method used in making wine to maintain the purest expression of nectarines."
A recommended consumption date is not indicated on the bottle.

As soon as it is opened, it smells of peach jam and a soft, rounded woody note.
When poured, it does not foam and is a bright, shiny orange colour.
In the mouth, a medium-bodied beer which releases a full flavor of peach pulp followed by an evident acid note (almost of peach yoghurt), but whose astringency is rounded and dampened by a valuable woody note which smoothes out any angularity that fruit tends to give to beer.
The drink is tasty and valuable: the peach flavor is dominant, the inevitably acidic note is tempered by a rounded woodiness that dampens the tartaric flavor and leaves room for the taste of peach pulp on the palate.
    Tongue not dehydrated.
    Wonderful balance.
Of a Blonde Ale, this beer retains only the firmness of the body and a light underlying sweetness which you notice when the beer further tempers its temperature in the glass.

It will never be there again, but it was a privilege to drink such a beer: a masterpiece, in my opinion.

Honey amber body, clear; fair carbonation; thick, frothy head, persistent; spidery fingers of foam lace the glass. Interesting estery aroma; peach, apple, and allspice. Mild sour apple taste; ripe peach; dull, papery malt backbone; some lactic acid tanginess. Medium-light body; a bit thin and watery; very light dryness.

Without knowing the canning date for this beer, I have to wonder if it's a bit oxidized with some of flavors. It's not super bad per se, does have a certain unique, almost green apple aspect to it, but whether this is intended or not, it's hard to say. The can also seemed a bit over-carbonated when popped open.
