Time now to "log in" to the wood pile scene. It's a mess. Yesterday, with help from all the BAs, I split all but 1 big stupid log as I would like to have it decay somewhere for the health of our mini ecosystem here. New dirt! Final tin of Kros Strain Gas Station Cheeseburger HDIPA. Cheers!

1) BlackStack 100 Year Jubilee (8.0% no canning date): A TDH NEIPA from Minnesota with Nelson Sauvin, Cashmere & Nectaron for flavors of green grape, white wine, grapefruit, pear, and blueberries.
versus
2) Toppling Goliath Cage’s Castles (7.8% canned 10/16/23): A NEIPA from Iowa with Strata, Nelson, Citra and Mosaic for flavors of orange flower, grapefruit, pineapple, some hints of grape and melon. Smooth. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
1) BlackStack 100 Year Jubilee: New Zealand hop NEIPA Battle. Two great ones. First up is BlackStack 100 Year Jubilee. Tons of great New Zealand hop flavors. It's bright, vinous, and green. Perfect ABV and dryness. Unfortunately my last one of these, but I'm going to savor it as it is the best BlackStack IPA I've had this year.
Next is Toppling Goliath Cage's Castles. Bought a fresh 4-pack so going to do a few battles with this one. About a month out now and taming a bit. Bright orange, tropical pineapple, and melon. Not getting as much Nelson as I'd hoped, but still very good.
This is why I keep buying new BlackStack IPAs and doing the battles, because any day they can produce a World-Class caliber NEIPA like this one.

 

Turning Tides is a fresh, local DIPA, a favorite, at the source.

 

Kinda hit n miss isn't it?
