What beer are you drinking now? #4119

Just responding to @Jasonja1474 about the Mortalis line bust: I got there at 7:30 AM, but no other line crawlers showed up until 10:30, only 30 minutes before they opened. Usually people hang and do shares, but one guy told me that the usual crew was skeptical about the maple syrup. Totally absurd considering the adjuncts they drool for like cookies, coffee cakes, etc. I got a lot of bottles and I might even get more because this is a favorite of mine. Their $30/500 ml is steep, but what isn’t expensive any more? The last time they brewed BA Prometheus was 2021, so more is probably better.

Final impression and summation: 3.5 Tastes like a weak coffee drink with a twist-off cap, lacking any semblance of a Scotch ale/wee heavy. One and done. Thanks, Ryan, for the opportunity to try this one.

Another .frigid and cloudy day here in Central MA. It's been about a week and a half since we've even seen the sun here. My car doors are frozen shut, I managed to get one open - that's because earlier today it rained out for a bit and immediately froze up. Nothing we can do about it, but it's really getting old. Just ran down and picked up some Stone IPA.





The story of January has far and away been about the cloud cover. Some of the data here is a little crude, but it gets the messaging across. Just how cloudy has January been?

Well, if you take the straight up noon observation at Logan Airport, we had overcast skies 59% of the time. An average January that would be 43%. Since 1970, only three Januaries have been cloudier — last year, 2023, 1998, and 1979.

Now, January is typically one of the cloudier months, this one has just been exceptionally so. December and March tie for first place for frequency of cloudy days, with January and April tied for 3rd.
