Alright, so... I've done the work for some of you who will see these two ridiculously pricey beers side-by-side on your shelves soon. These are the bourbon barrel-aged versions of the Lukcy Basartd and Double Bastard, with the addition of hot peppers.
Originally, I wasn't even going to buy both of them. I chose to purchase only Punishment, as I like Double Bastard considerably more than Lukcy Basartd (am I the only one who hates that name?).
But I have like, a "sickness," (*phone calls being made by loved ones*) and I just couldn't live with myself if I didn't buy the other fucking beer (pardon my language, but its just how it was lol)...
The minute I tasted Crime, I understood *profoundly* what was going on here. Do not mistake my words: you are drinking hot sauce beer. The difference between the two is the abv and, to a lesser extent, the feel (and maybe taste, if your taste buds can outlast the sizzle) of the beer. Oh, and don't misconstrue my intent: I like hot sauce beer . Another "sickness" I'm sure
So, any way, you're welcome :stuck_out_tongue:.

I spent $19.99 (*you can't imagine how many typos I'm correcting as I type* - thank you, abv) on two 500 mL bottles of beer (over $40 for what amounted to two pint-and-a-third's of beer). I didn't realize how small the bottles were because they felt so heavy (thicker glass?); but after a pour into a (20 oz.?) pint, there was but a slight, quarter-glass topper-offer left in the bottle. I was shocked.
And so, even as an "I like hot sauce beer" guy, this was a bit too expensive. And that is, in my experience, an aberration for Stone. Stone is, in fact, famously reasonably-priced, right? I would generally say that, in my area, you get waaaay (how many a's required?) more good beer for your buck from them than many other breweries. So maybe you wanna cut 'em some slack and pick these up? Absolutely. If you like serious heat in your beer.

What's weird is how I found a couple of really spot-on quotes from Crime and Punishment (by Dostoyevsky, 'natch) as I drank the beers and looked up the book (which I happen to own but have never read).

“And the more I drink the more I feel it. That's why I drink too. I try to find sympathy and feeling in drink.... I drink so that I may suffer twice as much!” ('specially if you hate the peppers :stuck_out_tongue: lol)
    ...and...
“To go wrong in one's own way is better than to go right in someone else's.”

What's good about all beer, is simply that it is made.

Anyway, cheers. I gotta catch up on some football.

I think they were thinking that it would be more likely to get the 2 points than kicking the extra point since the snow is so thick..?:astonished: HEY it's tied now!!!:grinning::sunglasses:

**Edit: It was tied until special teams blew that coverage!! GRRRR!!:angry::angry:

Lucky to be so close to killer brew!
Semi retired: The Alchemist Brewery, OUROBOROS DIPA.
A: 12oz of cloudy orange/yellow haze, cider look, cloudy VT nectar from The Alchemist. Tapped @ the prohibition pig in waterbury, VT. 3.75/5 (4.25 from someone else at lunch)
S: a little musty / floral, admittedly difficult for this amateur enthusiast to note as the pub was full of Sunday delish food scents. (4.25/5)
    Taste: Citrus/Orange peel/grapefruit/dank hops/mellow sweet malt/ bitter finish, dry resinous tongue (4.35/5)
Feel: easy, smooth, typical alchemist, drinkable and delicious (4.35/5)
O: 4.35/5 Not heady, but very satisfying! Not as sweet backbone, dryer finish, great brew.
    Here's a photo!

Not picture, Lawson's finest liquids Maple nipple.

    Cheers!

Having really enjoyed another coconut bomb (Momi), I welcome the chunks in Proprietor's. I don't "welcome the chunks" very often.

This beer is no doubt amazing: I actually wish there was MOAR coconut going on here. Nonetheless, the coconut dances so well with the rye.

Looong day already. Up at 6. Out the door at 7. Only to stand and watch other random kids wrestle. Two hour plus drive home because the interstate was shut down and then the back road about 2 miles from home gets shut down too.

Digging into a new stout before tackling dinner. At least the Redskins don't completely suck and aren't getting blown out! ....that #1 draft pick would have been nice.

Not impressed at all. I'm wondering if I got an off bottle. All I'm getting is a mediocre base beer with a slight bourbon influenced sweetness and a ton of tannin. About to move onto a Warsteiner Pils. Got a 12 pk for 10 bucks at the market today, great deal.
