1) Hop Butcher Treez Freez (8.0% canned 1/3/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Pacific Sunrise, and Mosaic for flavors of orange citrus, berries, and sweet grape. Hints of pine.
versus
2) Toppling Goliath Broccoli Special Reserve (8.3% canned 1/23/24): A NEIPA from Iowa with Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, Blanc for flavors of mango, sweet orange, pineapple, and lychee. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
1) Hop Butcher Treez Freez: Another great Sunday NEIPA Battle. First is Hop Butcher Treez Freez. A wonderful medley of hops that gives a tropical berry and sweet grape flavor with some hints of bright pine.
Up against the new one from Toppling Goliath/Other Half with Blanc hops to give it a guava and lychee flavor. I think the Broccoli Reserve is fantastic flavors. Even clean, dry, and drinkable. Side-by-side somehow Hop Butcher packs even more flavor and smoothness. I often times note that sometimes the hop flavors in IPAs peak at about 6 weeks which is where this one sits. Hop Butcher edges the win today, both are top class IPAs. Going to enjoy these and the nice weather today to fill the void without Sunday football.

BA23 Volume:11 Barleywine aged in Martinique rum barrels. A warming 13.2% and one of the better ones in this series for quite some time.

At Revolution to pick up some cans. Enjoying their Cold Time lager on the left and Apple Brandy V.S.O.R. (two year aged ryewine in apple brandy and French oak barrels) on the right. The Cold Time is crispy and refreshing and the ryewine is stupid good, bringing maple, apple reduction, Werther’s Originals, creme brûlée, toffee, some apricot, some raisin bread, and charred oak. Revolution never disappoints.
