    1) Bent Paddle False Hibernation (5.2%): A Czech Dark Lager from Minnesota with flavors of black malt, bread, coffee roast, cocoa, and dark fruit. Dry, clean and smooth.
    versus
    2) Phase Three P3 Czech Dark (5.3%): A Czech Dark Lager from Chicago with flavors of bittersweet chocolate, coffee roast, black malt. Bittersweetn. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) Bent Paddle False Hibernation:
Well it's still snowing and blustery, so a perfect day for a Czech Dark Lager Battle. First is Bent Paddle False Hibernation. Picked up a six pack of these on a whim and glad I did. Very authentic and complex.
Next is Phase Three Czech Dark. Very similar, but slightly more bittersweet chocolate and coffee roasted notes. Sightly more porter/stout esque.
Bent Paddle makes probably the best Czech Dark Lager I had this year.

You and me both, we only got quite a bit of snow and freezing temps in mid January and that’s about it… I love greenery and some peace and quiet so such photos are relieving, definitely.

    1) Drekker King of The Thing (8.3% canned 2/27/24): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Citra hops for flavors of orange citrus, tropical pineapple and melon, some peach and mango. Juicy.
    versus
    2) Hop Butcher Blazed Green Relish (8.0% canned 2/6/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Citra, Strata, and Sabro for flavors of fresh orange, green papaya, and zesty citrus. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    1) Drekker King Of The Thing:
Drekker vs. Hop Butcher IPA Battle. First is Drekker King Of The Thing. It's fun to see how different breweries use the Citra hop. They can do so many different flavors with it. This again is excellent, and one of Drekker's best IPAs.
Next is Hop Butcher Blazed Green Relish. Interesting name. Sabro and Strata are the showcase here. Juicy grapefruit from the Strata with some tropical green papaya notes from the Sabro. It has potential, but doesn't pop with the complexity or flavor that I usually get from Hop Butcher.
Drekker getting the win here. They know when one of their IPAs is particularly amazing, because it seems like they are always making this one as they should.

Busy day at work today, but finished now and relaxing with a UFO Razwell. As seems to be the new norm around here - raining all day.

This is the tune that got me into Lee Ritenour back in 1978 - been a fan of him ever since, although I don't really care for a lot of the collaborations he puts on his albums, I'll leave it at that.

Very tasty guitar solo starting around the 1:50 mark.
