Don De Dieu, an unusual wheat based Triple.

From the recent Unibroue mixed pack

Appearance: Poured a 355ml can into a tulip. A big four finger very slightly off white fine head on a hazy dark lemon. Excellent head retention. patchy lacing.

    Smell: Fruity malt smells. Spicy.

Taste: Fruit up front with a spicy, prickly finish.

Mouthfeel: A surprisingly light body with moderate carbonation. Very smooth.

Overall a fine smooth fruity Triple.

Brothership Secrets in the Galaxy DIPA (Vic Secret, Galaxy, Citra). Big passionfruit and earthiness on this one, with supporting notes of lychee, navel orange, floral, yellow grapefruit, citrus peel, and pine resin. Very enjoyable.

Brothership Messier: 05 Imperial Stout aged on toasted coconut and Cassia cinnamon. These guys not only know their hops, but they excel in stouts too. This one is thick and dense with loads of coconut and a tasteful amount of cinnamon. Huge dark and milk chocolate, caramel, and roasted malts are coming from the base. Excellent pastry stout that’s not too sweet.

What's up BAs! Early out for Friday. Just in time for...the rain to come in. Oh well, what can you do?

My 500th beer review on BA.

    Tucker Brewing Co Local 6%.

    3.78/5 rDev 0%
    look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75
Appearance: Cloudy, pale amber. Mousse-like head, off white with outstanding retention. (keep in mind this is an unfiltered beer, so you will see particles floating in it!)

    Aroma: Oranges and spiciness

Flavor: Spicy/peppery with bready malt notes. Sweet with a moderate to low bitterness on the backend.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied and soft. Drying at the finish. Sticky moderate astringency after the bitter finish. Moderate length finish.

Overall: Consume this beer as soon as possible for best characteristics. It does have a fresh, young beer character to it that is a little hard to describe. Gives a sweet impression initially but has a notable bitterness on the back end for balance. I'm not getting much of the piney/resinous character from the Chinook hops, except from some stickiness or low astringency in the mouthfeel. It's medium bodied, but the creaminess gives impression of full bodiedness. Do get some orange-like citrus notes in the flavor BUT do not expect this to be like an IPA-like hops aroma and flavor. IPA fans will recognize this sticky, bitter finish from the many beers that use Chinook in combo with other hops. Not a true Kellerbier obviously, but about as close as you can get from a packaged beer. Nice effort from Tucker Brewing.

Nice sweet dark one. Not sure I get oreo but I don't have the w/o to compare it to. Nice though. Fighting to keep it dark just a little longer before the light ones take over till September.

Adventurous Citraculture IPA (Citra/Lupomax Citra). Heard good things about these guys and it doesn’t disappoint. Lime, lemon, ruby red grapefruit, passionfruit, floral, mango skin, pine resin. Iowa has some legit breweries.

Sun peaked out for a bit. Throwing back a Georgia Beer Co IPA. Wow, not sure what's up with me and IPAs lately. @TheIPAHunter must be a positive influence on me or something.
GBC Southern Isles is one of my favorite American IPAs. When you find this fresh, it can hold it's own. Well balanced. Features Citra, Azacca and Lemon Drop hops. I think the Lemon Drop hops makes it.
    Cheers!
