Lest we forget. Today and tomorrow my cheers are for all brave young men that were fighting fascism and were liberating countries overseas 80 years ago.



Tomorrow of course D-Day. The UK is remembering today already and rightfully so... The paratroopers were boarding their airplanes already.
Cheers to all the brave that dared and gave or endangered their lives for the freedom of others.

At 22:56 on 5 June, 1944, the six gliders towed by Halifax bombers took off from RAF Tarrant Rushton.[32] Horsa number one, the first of the three headed for the Caen Canal, carried Howard with Lieutenant Den Brotheridge's platoon, number two bore Lieutenant David Wood's platoon, and number three carried Lieutenant Smith's platoon. Priday with Lieutenant Hooper's platoon made for the river bridge aboard number four. Horsa number six carrying Lieutenant Fox's platoon was followed by number five bearing Tod Sweeney's platoon. Each glider also carried five Royal Engineers.[33]

Creature Comforts Tropicália at Buffington's

 

1) Drowned Lands River Birch (5.1%): An Oak-aged dry-hopped Pils from NY with flavors of lemon and orange citrus, tropical fruit, with a smooth pale malt and yeast.
versus
2) Lupulin Tunnel Buddies (5.7%): A West-Coast Pils from Minnesota with flavors of lemon citrus, citrus pine, tropical fruit with pale malts. A juicy, bitter piney finish. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
1) Drowned Lands River Birch: Another dry-hopped pilsner battle or whatever we are calling them right now. First is Drowned Lands River Birch. Reviewed this yesterday. Citrus, tropical, but smooth. Very nice.
Next is Lupulin Tunnel Buddies, listed as a West-Coast Pils meaning it's dry-hopped. Collab with Kros Strain in Nebraska. It has citrus and pine flavors. Lemony but also slightly dank and bitter. Leans a bit more IPL-like. Both are good, but Drowned lands retains more of that pilsner quality. Hopefully we can come to a naming consensus for all of these German pilsner variations.

Looking around in my basement (cellar if you prefer) and found this. Was a bit worried when I saw the 2016 date, but this has held up wonderfully. Might be better than when I had it fresh. The booziness has settled and the chilis add just enough zip.

 

Happy Wednesday BAs! She's hot out today, boys. This Rochefort 10 isn't the most refreshing selection I've ever made, but I don't regret it. Cheers!
