Went to pick up Mrs. DavetotheB at work and basically drove underneath a thunderstorm for about 40 minutes the whole way there. Cooled things off some though. Headed out to eat with my Massachusetts cousin and my dad. Little bit of lubrication beforehand. Tree House Very Hazy. Cheers!

    One and done.
Spent a good 90 minutes going up.15% grade on the dreadmill til I hit 4000ft. Yuck.

Cerberus (local) No Big Deal Kolsch...
And I'd have to agree... a little too much of a corn taste in this to be a good representation of the style. Still, no big deal.

    Prost!

A pretty nice Kolsch style ale from Huntsville, Ontario. Thinking globally while I drink locally.

North Coasts Brewing Co. -- Old No. 38
    Dry Irish stout
    ABV: 5.40%; pouring temperature: 56 °F; bottling info: 40160222
Source: local purchase (Coaltrain Fine Wine, Craft Beer & Spirits)

    look: 4.25 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4.5 | feel: 4.25 | overall: 4.25

Pours a clear, dark brown color, appears black and opaque in the glass; thick, densely spongy head, light khaki color; rings and globs of foam line the inside of the glass. Rich, subtly sweet aroma; mild chocolate and cocoa notes; nougat. Very fine taste; sweet milk chocolate with an undercurrent of charred grain bitterness; a delicate suggestion of coffee. Medium-heavy mouthfeel; smooth and silky; outstanding residual sugar feel that lingers on the palate.

This is a very pleasant and quite easy drinking Irish dry stout. Well-balanced dark grain sweetness and bitterness with a soft, pleasing feel on the palate.

...I was rather surprised I hadn't reviewed this yet...the beer has been sitting around a while at my favorite beer emporium, likely since around St. Patrick's Day times...a refreshing beer even on a warm summer afternoon...

[IMG] Happy Friday afternoon! Shoutout to @ChicagoJ for kicking it off! After a week of sweltering heat here in SEPA we’re getting some relief from some heavy thunderstorms! I’m getting some relief by enjoying Troubles End Brewing’s “The Point “ Helles Lager!

Oh, I miss that beer. That is such a great example of an Irish Stout. I can't find it at all around me now. I use to be able to pick it up going to see the family in Illinois as well, but no longer either. man, weird when I can't get just a simple Irish Stout anymore (though Saint Arnold's has an excellent option now, but that has only been made in the last year or so).
