The appropriate inaugural pour in this Stein that was gifted to me by my neighbor's dad. Very, very thoughtful of him. (The beer is pretty good too! )

Seventeen - Surly

Enjoying with a Compté cheese, and the beer amplifies and focuses the creamy nuttyness of the cheese. The cheese, however is rather selfish, so it is sip first then munch.

Very pleasant mild bourbon with orange, light oak, and old leather. Warmth brings out peat, faint herbs, and sweet-roasted malt. Then there is tart cherry and plumb pudding, slightly oxidized (in the best way). The individual components are exquisitely subtle all working together in a crescendo of delightfulness. A light body, fine silky smooth texture, soft carbonation, and well controlled alcohol. It makes me nostalgic for afternoons in my grandfather’s library.
