You beat me to the punch! Deleting my thread shortly.

Off work. Drinking a DIPA from Big Sky that comes in a stovepipe:[IMG]Grabbed it on the walk home from work, which involved gingerly bumbling down unlit sidewalks (I live and work just outside the city limits, so street lights are kinda scarce) that were periodically slick with ice from freezing fog. I walked into the Safeway next door to my apartment complex 5 minutes before closing to buy milk to pour over tomorrow's cereal, but they were out of milk! How the hell is a supermarket in America out of milk?!

Bonjour to the dude from France kicking us off today and merci as we say here.

PT for this knee early and afterwards drove by the ALDI supermarket where the beer selection is crappy but I found this, for 0,55€ a can I didn’t pass on it.

It’s a blonde, nothing mind boggling but okay:

    Santé!

Haven’t had one of these in a while, so why the hell not.

It’s also smoked beer season here in Finland. Looking forward to exploring local ones this month.

Good day BAs! Thanks @MadMadMike for opening the bar! What's the relative price difference of wine vs beer in France! IMHO, cheap, government supported, wine is usually a better deal than local beer - just a matter of Euros when I'm in (rarely) France. @Todd - enjoy the rauchbier season - wish I were there!

Today's New Breakfast Beer (after a late night watching Britbox whilst Mrs Lizard used the bed for a staging area for today's trip to the quilt coven):

To my taste, distinctly one of the best they allow us poor bastards living in the woods to purchase - the rye and vanilla are strong in this one!
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Leaves a distinct hint of rye whiskey on the aftertaste, but that’s what I drink (other than scotch or beer), so bully for BCBS! One of the better examples of BCBS available to us here in the hinterlands.

    Rating 4.27, rDev -8.8

It’s the great flip-flop. Good Bordeaux wine here is cheap. US Napa Valley wine is quite expensive.
Good Belgian beer is cheap as hell. American-style IPAs are expensive. An 11.2 oz can of French DIPA with Citra hops (always sold as singles.,.) goes for as much as €9.00, and they sell well.
American-brewed craft beer is really pricey; a can of 2022 BBA Speedway Stout costs €22.00, for example.
I like beer from Latvia and the Netherlands. A nice 10+% Stout, 16 oz can, goes for about €8.00, comparable to US at $.50 per ounce.
    Cheers!

It has certainly felt wintry lately. This may not be the best beer in the world, but it's certainly fitting right now.

Yikes - a winter weather / storm advisory in effect here, for late today through Friday am.....gonna get some snow from the sounds of it! Far NE Ohio, close to the PA border have already been getting hammered with lake effect (Lake Erie) snow measuring in the "feet" in some places!

    Happy Hump Day!

Mike probably said it better, personally I’m not really big on wines though a St Emilion for 15€ a bottle here isn’t that bad a deal, or an Alsatian Gewurtztraminer or Chardonnay. Occasionally makes for a fine pairing with any meals. Again rarely for me and not something you’ll see me share here at the Virtual (BEER) Bar.

Yep, local craft beer can get insanely pricey and I’m not willing to spend near 10€ anymore for a good but not world class French attempt at a DIPA in the 500ml format anyway. Belgian beer in the broad sense of the term is cheaper and smaller brewers know this and it’s hard to compete. Cheers.

When it comes to Pilsner I am quite simple. Vedett, Hertog Jan or Krombacher are good enough.
I know some are more delicate, crisp and tasty or whatever depending on your taste.

But pilsener style beer is for me mostly about drinkabilty and no strange skunky hopps or wet dog hair malt taste.
