    Was just sitting around and heard a sound sort of like a transformer blowing. Usually the power goes out first (speed of light being faster than the speed of sound and all), but nope. It couldn't be thunder, could it?

    Maybe... some thunder snow? In this case, whatever it is resulted in a swirling wind that dumped precipitation in the form of Dippin' Dots. Seems a mix of snow and hail. Drinking a light one to start the weekend - a smoked Helles from Bluejacket.

    Cool and in the upper 30's here in the WNC with some flurries. Enjoying a nice Westie from Monday Night Brewing that is near sessionable and some TP radio on Sirius. Had not heard this one before, very bluesy for the band, and found a bootleg performance with Gary Clark Jr.

    This was yesterday so not exactly "now" but close enough :slight_smile:

    I had a long layover in SFO on the way home, so for evening dinner I treated myself to a falafel wrap and a brown ale from a local brewery at an airport cafe. The tap list was like five IPAs (including Grapefruit Sculpin), a couple pilsners, a hefe, and then this: Oaktown Brown Ale from Calicraft Brewing.

    It’s interesting. Rich mouthfeel and body. Oakiness comes through, modest caramel sweetness from the malt and some nuttiness. Dry and bitter, tannin-like finish. Honestly, the flavor and astringency vaguely remind me of some black teas I've had. Not a flavor profile I encounter often in beer.

    I don’t think I’d seek this out often as it’s not typically what I’m wanting out of a beer, but it was neat to try at least - not bad at all.
