Bought this yesterday morning and forgot in my truck until this morning. 6*F overnight. It wasn't frozen, just a bit slushy. First time I've ever had a beer slushie! But at least it's lemon!

 

G'day all!

I woke up to negative temperatures this morning though, thankfully, only single digit.

This Helles is, in a word, fantastic! I'm glad I have another can.

Hitting my morning routine. If it doesn't snow beyond a dusting this morning/afternoon, will contemplate facing the cold wind for more wings today. Looking like shut-in weather for most of the next two weeks of vortex, but then hopefully clear for the rest of Winter.

Cellar review take linked here. WBAYDN take, this was properly cellared but still a shell of what it was fresh. Everything seems muddled, maple syrup is like what I imagine a diet version would taste like. Still drinkable, just not the 4.54 I rated my first fresh draft pour back in 2017.

 

Good evening,
here is the review I just added to the database of a beer that I matured in my home cellar and that I decided to open at the same time as the "Cellaruary".
I noticed that my rating (strangely) exceeds the general average by more than 4% and I think this is due to the fact that the beer has aged splendidly and has enriched its aromatic range, perhaps smoothing out some rough edges that could be found in a fresher drink.
Or in any case, personal tastes may have had an impact because I found it to be truly in excellent shape.
Definitely more complex, but also richer in nuances than other drinks previously:

Note the dust naturally accumulated (and not removed), a sign of maturation in the cellar over time.

That brewery name is curiously close to my last name...
ya know how immigrants names lost a letter, or a letter got changed, D became a T, etc. Would love to try that beer!

Trillium Double Dry Hopped Fort Point IPA

 

1) Modist Supra Black (5.0%): A Japanese Dark Lager from Minnesota with flavors of dark grains, yeast, Saki, and roast.
versus
2) Modist Pretty Metal (4.5%): A Euro Dark Lager from Minnesota with flavors of dark cocoa, roast, black malt and earth. Roasted. (Correctly matched the two blind)

Modist Dark Lager Battle. First is Supra Black. First try at it. It's a Japanese Dark Lager. Some dark grains and Saki notes. Light roast. Clean and very drinkable.
Next is Pretty Metal, their Oak-aged dark lager. Dark grains, earth, slight oak and roast. Clean as well, but slightly sweeter.
Modist is killing in the lager game as always. These two are both excellent. I'm slightly biased toward their oak-aged lagers.
Winner: Modist Pretty Metal
