Happy Thursday ba. Got done early with work and found a nice score on my way home. Ghost in the machine, dipa, parish. I’ve had a bunch of stuff from parish but this is oddly my first go at this gem. Nicely hop forward, smooth, creamy and subtle fruit notes. I mostly get tangerine, nectarine, melon, and grape. Nice stuff,

Kicking things off with a Trail Pass today..

1) Phase Three P3 Winter Lager (5.0%): A German Dunkel from Chicago with flavors of brown bread, caramel, earthy Munich malts. Toasty and clean.
versus
2) Phase Three Perception of Depth (6.5%): A Brown Ale from Chicago with flavors of brown bread, toast, strong nuts, with a light roastedness. Dry and clean. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

Phase Three Dark Beer Battle. First is their Winter Dunkel. Nice caramel, brown bread, and earthy Munich malt flavors. Excellent
Next is Perception of Depth, their Brown Ale. Smooth caramel and brown bread flavors. Very similar overall, but slightly more sweet and smooth here.
Both are excellent from Phase Three. Slight win to Perception of Depth, but these are very similar.
Winner: Phase Three Perception of Depth

 

Back home again for a brief hospital respite, and a much needed beer (and shot of bourbon!), and some late lunch etc....thanks for all the well wishes for my mom, much appreciated!
