Well on that subject
Years ago young apprentice Scott working with his Father, and HVAC team, replacing a steam boiler.
Walked into the first floor to go to the basement, I almost loose lunch. My Dad and the pipefitter, look at each other and say. " Hey, Fish Heads and rice"! I remember that smell
Both served in Vietnam.
Occupants were from Cambodia, Great people.
Needless to say I remember that one!

A beautiful afternoon here sunny,breezy and 77 degrees. Drinking a Weldwerks Mango Juicy Bits CO 03/21. It interesting to note mango purée is added with instruction to gently roll can to mix. Citra ,mosaic , & el dorado hops are featured. I like the mango for the tropical bitterness , but it has a milkshake feel to it that i dont like . Overall enjoyed it .

 

Enjoying the back patio as much as possible before the true summer heat arrives. Fresh Yellow Rose…cheers!

 

I decided to join the “bomber” club this evening! Man! This is so good and quite reasonably priced, too!

 

Back home, a couple of Chicago beers to ease into the holiday weekend. This Helles lager is such a delight to drink - the noble hop flavors are outstanding, IMHO. Absolutely love it.

 

wooly pig rye dunkel. I’d prefer a traditional Dunkel but this is pretty good.

 

Lavery Ulster Breakfast Stout (Milk Stout), 7% ABV. Pours moderately thick and black with a one-finger brown head that left little lacing. Aroma is coffee and lactose. Taste follows, slightly sweet, moderately bitter. Smooth but slightly over-carbonated. Overall excellent.

An excellent coffee/milk stout shared by @Ozzylizard in a LIF box as part of our Stout/Barleywine BIF. Should have saved this for Sunday morning!

Pours pitch black with no head. I tried to coax one but the ring of off-white bubbles was the best she could muster and pouring, I initially thought still. Nose is maple, char, dark chocolate, trace vanilla. Wowza, talk about a balance of flavors... dark chocolate, coffee, maple are all very equal to one another. The barrel characteristics, oak, char, whiskey are there but act as anchors allowing the others to shine. As it warms, a nutty note comes out, either almond or walnut. Mouthfeel is low-to-moderately carbonated, somewhat silky. Finish brings out more of the barrel with char and oak mixing with dark chocolate. This is in such balance with each addition doing what it's supposed to instead of overpowering. 12.75% ABV is well-hidden.

 

Last beer for the evening. Probably going to hit Good Word Brewing tomorrow. This is Halfway Crooks Beer Linus Pilsner with NZ hops. Cheers!

 

Autodidact + Conclave = Sands of Sleep. This is a very good TIPA. It took a few weeks for the hop burn to mellow but it’s drinking great now. Cheers!
