I’m betting y’all will never guess what beer making establishment we decided to stop at.

Hint: having a Full Quiver Märzen

This place likes to focus on German beers, though they do have a couple other styles, including an IPA (of course) and a Czech dark lager. But mostly German beer styles.

The IPA is near a pale ale, but citrusy and not bad - just not bitter enough. Their Hefe has some good ratings, so that may be next.

    1) Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn (6.0%): A German Festbier with flavors of pale malt, dry bread, grains, yeast. Crisp and carbonated.
    versus
    2) Tucher Brau Festbier (5.8%): A German Festbier with flavors of smooth, earthy Munich malt, smooth honey. Balanced and smooth. (Correctly matched the two blind)

German Festbier Battle. First is Paulaner. Sweet honey notes, getting a little sour and probably past it's time, but when fresh I remember this being excellent.
Next is Tucher Brau. A bit more toasted and floral notes. Still drinking very nice.
    Winner: Tucher Brau Festbier

My wife suggests me to move my lazy a$$ and do some yard work. Now I need some encouragement with a Schilling Jakobus German-Style Pilsner.

Were and when did you go to Houston? I could have pointed you to some cool spots, but I'm sure you have that covered

Do they sell soft pretzels to pair with that beer?

I know I am an outlier, but my experience with Live Oak Hefe has been far below the stellar ratings you and others have. Despite me certainly thinking the opposite if I were in your situation, I wish you had grabbed another sixer for your enjoyment. Cheers!

One of my favorite spots in town, Hughie's just tapped an uber fresh keg of Live Oak Hefe, and that is the reason why I love it. Lately the cans have let me down, and have been inconsistent...and old. And was leaning towards, man is Live Oak as good as I once thought? But that keg was like, yep thats why I fell in love with it ha.

Ice cold Kokanee hitting the spot while I do some burning and bagging of yard waste today. Grilling up some strip steaks tonight for steak sandwiches on Texas Toast. :yum: Hope everyone has a wonderful Easter Sunday tomorrow. Cheers!

Lol, no soft pretzels. Wish there were some! The mustard was faint, but present, could use a little more. Not bad, especially since I don't like IPAs....

Don't you just hate when life interferes with your beer drinking? Ya, me too. Anyway, back here today enjoying the Cubs blasting the ball around the park as we color some Easter eggs. And, this Art History ESB is excellent. Cheers!

Happy Saturday / Easter weekend ba. Beauty of a day here with temps hitting low 70’s. Gonna relax, eat a lot of good food, watch plenty of mindless sports, and of course crush some brews.
Into it w/ Melcher street, ddh ipa, trillium. Soft and mellow hop forward, with subtle notes of peach, tangerine, and melon. Nice stuff,

I had it from keg and can from the first batch that I know of that hit northern Virginia. Neither worked for me, and I can’t recall exactly why, but I want to say it was earthy and generally dull. I have fun mentioning it, because I’m usually close to being in step with the general consensus on highly regarded classic style beers.

Anyone still trying to guess where we are? Here’s their brewing setup, if that helps.

Yep - that’s all of it (as far as I can tell). Here’s a Hefe I can get behind…
    [IMG]

Island Pond has a nice spice and light banana-adjacent esters that accent the soft, light grained flavors.

Happy Saturday BAs! Still packing up the condo today. First beer break - “Sinister Minister” - BA 1 year in Quincy Street bourbon barrels, a Belgian style quad:

Canned Oct. 2021? Poured at 52°. Bourbon nose /taste. Caramel, figs and more bourbon. Outstanding! From a beer trade a while ago with @Storm. Only the 7th check in on Untappd, so I’m guessing small batch. Delicious - Thanks Kevin!

Our summer is starting up here in SW FL. The highs will be in the mid 80s to low 90s all week. I’m moving stuff into a storage unit next week, closing out the condo, then hitting the road for the summer as soon as circumstances allow.

Cheers y’all and have superb Saturday!
